Comments (19)We had scotts lawn service come out and they've treated the lawn for weeds twice, fertilized twice and aerated the lawn. However prior to doing any of that, the lawn still looked exactly as it does in my pictures. We've also had 10+ inches of rainfall and it continues to rain all this week. They mentioned no sign of chinch bugs or disease. Perhaps I should check the pH and apply Lime if necessary? Comments (150)So maybe my theory about the island trim being poorly designed is plausible..... That slight difference in the angle/direction of the vent holes could mean the difference between the thing working in applications like ours (agains the wall) or not, no? The woman we've been dealing with at Wolf and the senior tech both told us we should NOT NEED to use the hood in order for the burners to work, but never said we couldn't use it (they all still feel it's a good idea to use the hood when using any part of the range; oven or burners as per Wolf's directions in the manual), just that it's NOT NECESSARY to use the hood for good burner performance during pre-heat or any other time. The svce guys (except for the svce mgr) all seem to feel that using the hood (and on high no less!) IS necessary in order for the burners to function while the oven is preheating (and maybe even while in use, period). No wonder we're confused, huh plum? One person tells me one thing, another tells you something else, and yet another tells us both something different, and then Dave gets another story entirely. Between the range issues we've had (both the Jade and the Wolf), our pot filler faucet parts popping off all over the place, and fridge doors that keep on developing pinging noises while opening/closing them...is it any wonder I keep telling people we're only 99.9% done with our kitchen reno (and am afraid to begin the bathrooms reno planning)?!?!...See Moreexperienced tung oil users, help
Comments (6)On the waterlox site they have instructions about how to achieve different gloss levels (which they also note are subjective.) There they say to use two coats of the satin over one or two coats of the Original (which is glossier) so it sounds like you're in luck. There a lot of photos on the site so you should get an idea of what it looks like. This is my table with just a few coats of the satin: It looks more reflective here than it appears in real life. Is there any way you can get a sample of the wood with the current finish on it that you can scratch up and then test with the satin? I think it's probably what you're looking for but before you start such a big job... Here is a link that might be useful: Waterlox website...See Moreimportant!!!! pet owners please read!!!!!!!
Comments (6)Years ago, my parents had to be out of town on the fourth and I offered to watch their large dog, who had to stay home. They thought it would be better to take him in to board at the vet, who had an office near the shopping strip. It isn't the legal fireworks so much as the illegal ones going off in back yards or nearby. To make a long story short, the poor vet had put the dog in a pen with access to a fenced in enclosure. Eight feet of it and some kids threw firework in at him. He did indeed climb all eight feet of fence and disappeared. He was missing for weeks and my folks and I and also the vet drove the area calling his name, took out ads in the paper, offered rewards. A young man came forth because he felt so sorry for my folks and admitted the frantic dog had run in front of his car on the busiest street in town, and he hit him. The dog died of its wounds and the young people took him to a remote area and tried to give him a burial. My father went with him to the site, and dug the animal up and sure enough, there was his red collar. He was reburied on their property, and it was a very traumatic experience for all concerned and I grieve to this day. All over fireworks. You shouldn't have to medicate a dog to relieve their anxiety. The laws should be upheld. Everyone did everything right in this situation and a fine dog was still lost....See Moreyvonne53
