Poll: What is the 1 thing in your home you can't live without
Comments (11)Truly, the one thing in my home I can't live without...the people who live in it with me!!;-) I know that was sappy, but I couldn't resist. Now honestly, I LOVE my laundry room. Two big windows looking out to the woods, my sound system, cable hookup, integrated ironing board, tons of folding space....can you tell where I spend a great deal of my time? Oh, the other place I spend my time is the kitchen, but right now the laundry room is my favorite. Hopefully as the children grow up that will no longer be my favorite. Comments (10)Okay, read this post yesterday for the first time and thought: I have one. Oops no pics of it. So that's what I did this morning. Realize this is still sort of a work in progress. This area is at the front of my house, upstairs at the end of the wide center hall. The window seat was there when we bought the house 2 years ago. A few months ago we added the bookcases on either side. The seat lifts up also for storage. Please ignore the fact that the curtains are not hemmed and I have not recovered and replaced the cushion (and the really crooked candle)! I think I also need to paint the strip under the window the same color as the windows and the seat and finish painting the upper left window and then scrape the paint off the window panes!!. Never enough time though. Also something I did in a previous house: it is really easy to make a finished window seat using those small cabinets that go above refrigerators.Put several together to get the length you want, add a top and a cushion....See MorePoll: You Have 10 Mins...You or Your House?
Comments (44)auntjen - I never heard that joke, but I have to share something similar. I am a teacher and a substitute who is also a friend mentioned she saw someone that knew me. She couldn't recall his name. After asking her what he looked like and anything else she could tell me about him, she frustratingly says, "You know...the blind guy!!!" I sat there for a minute, wondering who do I know that is blind. The only person I could think of was my roommate from college's father, but they live 2 hours away. So, I said to her, "I don't know anyone that's blind from around here." She says hysterically, "No, he's the blind guy, he was at my house measuring my windows." I knew exactly who she was talking about. We cracked up for quite some time. To answer the OP: I'd throw on a bra (I clean in the pjs too!) and baseball cap. I could care less what I look like for someone I don't know. I'd probably grab an empty laundry basket...if I can find one, and throw anything that is left out, (which is usually a lot in our 1500sf shoe box with no basement and 3 kids 4, 7, and 10) in there and toss it in the playroom. Comments (11)I had NO idea that this was a relatively common issue. I always thought that regular teflon use was not problematic. I only had one pan that I would use for eggs and such. This new set I purchased had two non-stick skillets. I didn't even think twice before using them. Had I thought of it I wouldn't have purchased the set in the first place. In a way, I am kind of relieved the bird is gone. I was dreading having the mess in my new kitchen. However, the sad part was that the bird was given to us as a gift after our last parakeet died of old age. At the time were kind of relieved to be done with the mess, but then our secretary gave it to us as a birthday present, and we obviously couldn't refuse the bird or take it back... She passed away last year due to breast cancer, so this little birdie was our last connection to her....See More- 9 years ago
