How Birdhouses Bring Life to Your Home
We see a lot of design ideas for bird cages these days. There's a good reason for that; vintage birdcages make really cool accessories for the home. But what about the simpler and more traditional birdhouses and bird feeders that we use? Can't those also be a great item for decorating the house?
Most people get birdhouses because they want to feed the birds in their area. They want to bring birds to their gardens. They want to add life to a small porch by encouraging birds to visit there. They enjoy the peace of watching the birds from their windows.
People who do enjoy functional birdhouses should still take the time to choose their birdhouses wisely. Select ones that really enhance the decor of the space. Choose a birdhouse that says something about who you are. It's these little details that make a home look complete.
And notably, you don't have to have a functional bird-feeding birdhouse to add to your decor. Birdhouses can be put on display or used to hold items in the home as well. This is a great home accessory - have fun with it!

I adore the way that this birdhouse is worked into the gorgeous design of the gate. This is a terrific example of how the birdhouse can be both functional and decorative.
Birdhouses that are functional are the best. However, you can use birdhouses for decor only if you would like. The birdhouse on the left of this room is filled with light for the holidays.
Here is another example of a birdhouse being used to store light. In this case, candles are placed inside and the entire thing is used as a table centerpiece. I definitely think this brings warmth to the table!
Here's another lovely collection of birdhouses on display in the home. I absolutely love how they are set against the really bold red furniture. What a great contrast!
You don't have to have an entire collection of birdhouses to show them off as decor in the room. You only need one really great birdhouse such as this one. I particularly enjoy the way that the white and blue of the birdhouse is replicated throughout this bathroom.
Likewise, a single really lovely birdhouse placed outside can add decorative appeal to the yard. I like the way that this old birdhouse has been dressed up with a little bit of paint and that gorgeous dragonfly. I'm sure the birds will will come check out this garden quickly!
It's important to note that there are many different types of birdhouses. Although I gravitate towards the vintage ones, there are also very cool modern designs to choose from. Definitely take the time to find the garden birdhouse that best suits your home!
I think that this is perhaps the coolest bird house I've seen yet. First of all, it looks like a miniature home which I love. And second, it's actually a mailbox and bird feeder in one!
