business owner doing my own accounting - bad?
Comments (10)Firstly, I'd just like to re-iterate what's already been said here. A refund means that you've paid too much taxes - a genius accountant wouldn't let that happen. The bigger the refund you get from the IRS the worse you're accountaning practices are. Giving a bonus to to an accountant based upon the size of a refund shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what a refund is and what an accountant does. I would be leary of taking any financial advise from your GM dealer friend or his accountant. A tax preparer will go through your box or receipts once a year looking for deductions, an accountant should do much much more than that. There are many ways to receive renumeration from your business; pension plan, salary, dividends (if you own a schedule C corporation), etc. An accountant should be able to show you how to extract the maximum ammount of money from your business while paying the minimum in taxes. I've had a small business for about three years now. I haven't had a single refund and I doubt that I ever will. However, my accountant has saved me tens of thousands of dollars in taxes as well as giving my invaluable advice on the financial aspects of running a business. Speak to an accountant, or better yet a CPA about your business and your wont regret it....See MoreGmail uses; how do two people share accounts
Comments (5)When signing in to gmail, there's a box with a check in it that says "Stay signed in". When two people use the same PC, uncheck that box before signing in. Otherwise, the first user's username will come up each time. Two ways to clear it: 1) Clear the browser's history, close it, then open again and start gmail. The user field should be blank. 2) Click on "Sign on as someone else" or something like that, then remove that persistent user or add a second user. Third choice, which avoids the recurring problem: 3) You use 1 browser for gmail, the other user in the house uses a different one. Remember which is which. Clearing browser data every day, or every few days, is a good idea anyway....See MoreMy hotmail account was hacked...

Comments (5)There is a HUGE difference between someone gaining access to your email and your computer being compromised. You haven't provided any evidence that your computer is hacked. You have provided evidence to the contrary since you scanned your computer and didn't find anything. Also, if your computer has been hacked, the hacker probably isn't interested in using anything that is actually on your computer but is interested in using your computer to do other malicious things or monitoring your keystrokes to get passwords to financial accounts. Deleting files on your computer isn't going to prevent any of that (assuming your computer has been hacked). People keep many gigabytes of crap on their computers, hackers aren't going to rummage through all of those files in hopes of finding some valuable morsel. Unless you are a prominent person who is known to have classified documents or something like that on your computer, in which case you might be targeted for the data on your computer....See MoreJoff R
