Do you think I can find wallpaper like this?
Comments (13)The short answer really is "No". I fell in love with that same pattern two years ago and obsessed about how to make it work in our loo. And how to justify its cost. And if I couldn't find a near substitute. The pattern is copyrighted and as nearly as I can tell is only made by Sandersons and a company in Canada. Both of which seemed costly. After spending way too much time looking for a "similar" paper and up against the get the-loo-done deadline, I finally bit the bullet and ordered the paper from a Sandersons book at a local wallpaper store. I do think the Canadian source would have been a little cheaper. You can find it by googling William Morris wallpaper. How do you plan to use it? I put it above a plate rail with one of the greens below. I'm still not thrilled with my green color choice. But I still do love the pattern....See MoreThoughts about wallpaper as wall mural?
Comments (37)SUPER high quality (which also means $$$$$) are Zuber, Gracie, and de Gournay. They are usually handpainted or hand-blocked, are always hung using liner paper (so they can be removed and used in another place), and look best in very grand houses. They are usually used in halls, up grand staircases, in dining rooms, and occasionally in a very large and grand bedroom. Farrow & Ball makes some papers that are not murals but large scale paper. While expensive, they are not something that one must win the lottery to even consider. Here are some examples of how it is used. https://www.curbed.com/2016/9/1/12748496/old-house-wallpaper-history-zuber-china https://www.graciestudio.com https://degournay.com/wallpapers For those of you who saw the movie "FIfty Shades of Gray", you might have noticed the fabulous wallpaper behind the bed. According to the NYTImes review of the movie, the de Gournay wallpaper was the best part of the movie. I have not seen the movie but I'm sure I would have spotted the de Gournay wallpaper! I love Farrow & Ball papers and have used them in multiple rooms in my house (I still love wallpaper, even though it is out of fashion). http://us.farrow-ball.com/patterns/wallpaper/fcp-category/sub...See MoreWallpaper in the Bathroom
Comments (68)I love wallpaper and have it in most of the rooms in my house. Some of it has been there for decades and is still in excellent condition. Having said this, I have told my children that when they haul me out of here, dead or alive, to remove all the wallpaper before putting the house up for sale. People are terrified of removing wallpaper - think it will destroy the walls (if drywall and not properly primed, it might!), or will cost a fortune to remove. So I told them to only leave the wallpaper in two bathrooms - both are done in a Farrow & Ball strie paper and they make the two baths. As to wallpaper and using it in a bath or kitchen. One is no longer limited to "kitchen/bath vinyl wallpaper. I chose a gorgeous french documentary paper for my kitchen when we were moving here in 1984. I was worried about using it as a backsplash in my kitchen (which is what one did in those days), and a rep in the Brunschwig & Fils showroom in LA, told me to just send it to ResistFlame in Cincinnati. They would coat it with vinyl and I'd be good to go. I did this and have done it many times since. One has a choice of matte finish (my choice) or glossy, and it can be single/double/triple coated depending on the wear/tear one expects it to have to endure. I've always done single coating and that has been fine. It is totally wipeable/scrubable with a Dobie pad. The company is so easy to work with - I usually just have the paper drop-shipped directly to them. They coat the paper and then ship it to me. It's really quite reasonably priced....See MoreHelp with Schumacher Chiang Mai Wallpaper
Comments (10)That paper is gorgeous! Spoonflower has some great wallpapers in a Chinoiserie design. Here are the results when I searched for Chinoiserie Dragon. It may take some searching but I bet you could find something you love for less than the Schumacher. I have some wallpaper from them (peel and stick) and it was thick and really nice quality. You're going to want to do more laundry with such a pretty room!...See Morelessismoore
