However you got there, subliminal or otherwise, yours looks fabulous, Mtn. Yes, you do have a good eye.
< My DH says we are all amoebas, with the illusion of choice. We met a couple at a neighborhood thing recently and we were so alike in so many ways it almost became funny. We "think" we are making choices, but we are such products of our environment! >
I've been told that I am quite the opposite, and my own choices are generally 180° from what I see posted here. I am therefore reluctant to post photos here of my style preferences.
Lars, that may be the key difference between creative people and the rest of us?
Just another side of the coin we are learning about….
We have a genetic research company here in town, a non-profit, HudsonAlpha. They put on free seminars for the public to educate those interested in their research. One item they discussed recently is that genetic makeup plays a part in one’s response to medicine. A case study described a woman who was prescribed opiates for recovery from extensive surgery and was not responding to pain relief. After a while, it was thought she was ’faking’ to obtain more drugs, when nothing seemed further from the truth from her history. I’m shortening this story for brevity, but eventually genetic testing showed she was not capable of processing opiate-type drugs, the doctor changed her medications, and she obtained relief.
I am taking Levothyroxine for my sluggish thyroid but not sure if it is working well. I am always cold. My next blood test is in June but the Doctors here only will test for T4 and not do other tests. I asked about the natural thyroid and two of my Doctors say they don't prescribe it. My go to person for all my thyroid questions is Amy Berger, she is the nutritionist in the group I belong too. If you are interested watch this video, Amy
is very knowledgeable about thyroid issues.
I'm interested in thyroid issues. Mine was removed a year and a half ago. I'm on sythroid and so far it's ok. I get tested every 3-4 months and the dose is tweaked.

It took several "non theme" words before I figured out just exactly what the theme was supposed to be. Then it was easy.

Thank you, all, this helps. I know it will be ok; it's just hard. One of MY favorite memories of all time is when I saw an ad on Craigslist quite a few years ago by a woman looking for help to make a raincoat for a rescued goose whose feathers had all fallen out on her back. My friend's mom is an extraordinary sewist, quilter, embroiderer, etc. Museum level stuff. She had just moved here from Boston to live close to her daughter, and wasn't yet too busy, so I mentioned the ad to her. She was ALL in! I drove her to the rescue and she took measurements and sewed the most amazing raincoat for the goose She thought it was a hoot and we couldn't stop laughing about it. I think the local paper ran a story about it, but I can't find it in the archives. I can't believe I don't have a picture of the final coat, but this was the pattern she made that she was trying on at one of the goose fittings. :)
So, I imagine we'll have a good laugh at this memory!
Thank you all again for your kind words and thoughts about this. I finally worked up my courage to call her, worried that I wouldn't be able to squeak out any words, but just start crying. But it was a really upbeat conversation and she made it very easy to stay positive. I had sent a waxed Amaryllis bulb to her via her daughter and she told me how it was in full bloom and such a delight. Then she told me how in 1924, her grandfather had moved in with her family for a few years and brought a tub of Amaryllis bulbs with him that bloomed every year. He kept them going for many years, then in the 1980's he passed on the bulbs to his great-grandson, who has kept them going all these years. Her daughter (my friend) recently visited the great-grandson and brought home 4 of these bulbs. So, in telling me this story, she was relating how special having a blooming Amaryllis is for her at this time.
She was a teacher and our conversation ran the gamut from Socrates to her thoughts about humanity going forward. One take-away for me when we talked about the current political climate and happenings: "It's always been hard to be a human." And another, "I think humanity, despite how it might look, is still headed in an upward direction."
So we said our good-byes, expressed our love, and I had a good cry after I hung up.
Oly, it sounds like a sweet memory for you. It reminds me of my aunt, who called to give her regrets for our family Christmas Eve because she was dying with cancer. We had a lovely chat, I told her how much we would all miss her, meaning not just that holiday but always. She was always the life of a party.
And I’m thinking of an exchange student we had. He was from Netherlands. and we knew he had lost his mother to cancer. One day, DH and my kids were out, and Dom and I were chatting in the kitchen. The topic of his mom came up. He said how much pain she had been in, and there was no hope at all, so she was able to choose her time and place. Just as we were about to head into the weeds, as it were, with my arms ready for a big motherly embrace, my guys came in the door. I always regret that we were interrupted.
I’m so glad you had your moment of sharing and virtual embrace. Love and compassion are our gifts to share and receive as humans.
No snakes at all? I bought this in Heathrow on a layover to Athens. We were just on our way to the lounge when I saw it and bought it before I could even do the currency translation. My girls are hoping I will tire of it...
It was destined, because I had just bought a DVF maxi in a python pattern. (this is not me, LOL!). Acutally my dress is lighter than this too.
Now I want this way more expensive Bvlgari version 🤦🏻♀️
Wasteful, indeed. Feels like a set-up, doesn't it? I am dealing with the same waste issue on my DR chandy and 3 or 4 appliances right now. Please tell me how taking an entire fridge, a/c unit or DW to the landfill vs. putting in some freon or a small pump saves anything. How those lightbulbs, which do NOT last 13 years, are HORRIBLE light, and are very difficult to duplicate (right now, I have 3 different color bulbs in one chandy because I cannot get an exact match on the one I LIKED).
And they wonder why we have conspiracy theories, LOL.
Good luck with the lamp. I like the shape, but you might need a tag of instructions attached, for guests.
Update - they are sending all new yardage, free of course, 2-day Fedex, and a label to return the incorrect yardage. Whew.
I voted for 7 but think 6, 7 or 8 would work. 9 looks a bit drab to me with the print and the other greens too much acid green.
#9 for the win! My choice, although I also liked the others on that side.
I like 8 & 9, but since it will be on a seat I would go with 9.
I know nothing about peel and stick, but i love the new look with the marble slab and the cutting board. Genius! If the new real grasscloth looks better than what you have in there now in the photos, it will be fab!
How about a Kate Golding paper? She has such great small patterns. https://www.kategolding.ca/abundant-springtime-collection
*not peel and stick but if you love the pattern, well, it’s a small project…
I like both colors too, but kinda lean toward magnet. You have a gem for a sister!
That is my plan -- I just need to decide which style/piece. Mushroom is a new release and has limited options. It may very well be the one above that isnt my favorite.
And, yes! My sister is awesome... :)
Just and FYI Funky …I washed two of my bags just last week and they come out fine.
I did put each one in their own mesh bag and washed on delicate cycle. They only showed a little dirt on outside pockets where I keep my cell /keys but it *bothered* me (YMMV )
I know a lot of you are traveling in the next few months. I am curious -- do stick to a color set while packing?
Nope. I am bad at predicting what I will want to wear. Will I be too hot or too cold? Will I feel underdressed or overdressed? I like to be able to have choices. I am a proud overpacker. Unless you are backpacking around a continent on a shoe string, the burden of overpacking is not that great and can be ameliorated with generous tipping (or an indulgent partner).
Nicely done! I love the vanity.
Just lovely, and a dream tub too!
Very nicely done! The time you took in planning really paid off. And I love the warm touch the vanity adds to the room. Enjoy!
