Comments (8)I like the darker throw pillows you have, but I think there are too many pillows. Extra pillows on furniture have a purpose—to provide back support for shorter people. Remove the small beige and burgundy pillows. IMO, they are in the way. Your wall color seems to have a yellow tone. The color could be influenced by your lighting. Notice in your last photo how the corner lamp makes the wall look more yellow. Warm white bulbs have a yellowish light. Look for bulbs with a neutral color between 4000K and 5000K, though you might have to shop a specialty light bulb store. Bulbs above 5000K have more and more blue. Daylight bulbs are great for detail work, but colors wash out and it's harsh on skin tones....See MoreLiving room decor ideas
Comments (3)IMO that TV has got to come down and go on a cabinet where the chair and ottoman is . There is no way a TV should be larger than the fireplace. I would need to see the whole space too....See MoreLiving room decorating ideas?
Comments (1)What do you want to keep? This house seems fairly transitional, but it looks like you lean to a modern vibe a bit, so I would seek out "modern traditional" on google to gather some ideas. one of the first things I thought of was pillows for that long bench, a cream throw for the sofa, and perhaps a different area rug. New tv console. I would go with a low and long console. add a couple of end tables. I would also consider turning the recessed can in the middle of the room into a hanging fixture to help warm the space up a bit. Not a whole lot of room for artwork here so window dressings might be one way to get some color/texture up onto the walls. You could start by pulling the rug more toward the tv, this would allow the area to feel more connected. Bring the chair and ottoman then closer to the rug to make more of a grouping. If you wanted to soften a bit, curtains, shears on the windows flanking the tv wall would be nice. Texture and some color will help you a lot here:...See MoreLooking for living room decor ideas
Comments (3)What a cool space! I love built-in shelves/spaces like that. One of these days... Well, shelves are the obvious choice, for your books and other decorative items as well as a place to put things like cable boxes/gaming systems/routers. You could do some as cube shelves, you know, like these: (I don't mean that you would actually stick a shelving unit in there, I mean you could do that style of shelves.) You don't say how deep the cavities are, which does affect/limit the amount and type of stuff you could put there. Family photos would be nice, too; maybe get one blown up to fill about half the space, and then a shelf beneath it with a few more pictures? Something like this could go in one or more of the spaces: Really, it's about what items you want near you, and want to look at every day, as well as about the style and look of the rest of the room. It's difficult to say, "Put these modern-looking shelves and decor," in there if you are going for a country/traditional type of look, you know? You could also consider putting doors over some of the shelves, which would break up the spaces a bit and add some interest/decor all on their own. Glass doors with interesting frames, wood doors with cool pulls or detail work, that sort of thing. Here's a nice room where they've put in similar shelves to the ones above, and they have the colored background, too: If you collect anything, that might be a good place to display it? What style are you going for, what things do you like? I hope that's at least some help! I'm sure if you tell us what types of things you like and what the look of the rest of the room is--what kind of look you're going for--then others will have more suggestions for you....See MoreCelery.
