Milgard Ultra or Marvin Infinity
Comments (0)I have pretty much narrowed my pick of window down to these two but wanted to get some opinions/information on them from you. Any information on these two or any other fiberglass windows besides Pella is greatly appreciated. Thank you...See MoreMarvin Fiberglass vs. Milgard Fiberglass or other brands

Comments (5)I've looked at fiberglass replacements from Marvin, Milgard and Pella. I'm going with Milgard mostly because they have the best warranty - lifetime. The other 2 were 10-20 years. The price for Milgard was better than Marvin. Milgard does come with triple pane which I'm mostly getting to better reduce noise from a nearby highway, and it's only about $70 more per window. And Marvin's doing something sneaky here, in my opinion. I live at 7000 ft and want windows that qualify for the tax credit. To qualify they have to put argon gas in. I noticed in their warranty that it voids the warranty if windows are installed at >5000 ft without breather tubes. Well, you can't have breather tubes with argon gas! It bleeds out immediately! I pointed this out and the rep told me they'd make an exception for my warranty so I could still get the tax credit. There must be a good reason to have breather tubes at >5000 ft if it voids the warranty without them, and yet he's pushing the argon and no tubes!...See MoreMilgard Ultra/Marvin Infinity/Starmark Evo (Okna 7500)/VistaMark
Comments (2)The Starmark should be the pretty clear winner as performance goes both thermally and structurally once you have all of those numbers aggregated. The Infinity is a nice, well built unit, as well, just not in the same space efficiency wise, although there could be other options that could point that direction for you like a stainable or other color painted interior. Not familiar with Vistamark. Milgard is decent, it fares well against the many less than stellar units offered on the West coast. Not quite as well IMO when going against some of the cold-weather-born unit in the East and Midwest. As far as the certifications, as mentioned on the other site they are nice to have, but I wouldn't get hung up on them. Installation Masters specifically is more weighted toward new construction installation. In remodeling work, there are so many different circumstances to deal with that experience is what makes the biggest difference. The history, general reputation (reviews etc), association with a quality manufacturer/product on a direct basis should all give a good indication of the quality to expect....See Moremonke
