Glare is not unique to LED lighting. To reduce glare, either dim it, angle it or get a more diffuse light source (eg - uniLume). FWIW, there is a long running thread on UCL. Here is a link that might be useful: LED UCL continuation

I think the problem is the backsplash. Not that it isn't lovely, but it's got a large scale pattern compared to the granite which makes it pop. You certainly don't want to look for a granite that matches its punch. I do not think you will ever get the right colors in the slab of granite that don't create a different buzz.. I'm not sure is this application would allow it, but I've seen HGTV tile over tile.

We paired Blue Pearl (Island) with Bianco Romano (perimeter). Your other choices seem close to Bianco Romano. The samples I had during construction seemed to go really great together, but in the kitchen they clash...big time! Maybe it's the light, maybe it's the color of the cabinets. ??? I absolutely hate the two together and wish I had used only the Bianco Romano. So now we are taking out the Blue Pearl and will either get a quartz (maybe Caesarstone Haze) or wood to replace it. I don't mean to sound like a pessimist, just want to caution you to make sure your slabs work together. I thought mine did, but I was wrong.

I am a huge fan of virginia mist. Bbbbbuuuuuuuttttttttt I have to agree with Desertsteph. You don't want to be stuck in a sea of grey, black and more grey. And you are very lucky to have black as your cabinet color. Most granite will work. Granite is rock and most rocks have some gray or black in them. Go for an exotic color or someting lighter with a touch or tiny speck of gray/black and it will work wonderfully. Here are some ideas to think about. And for those who voted Virginia Jet Mist. I love you all as I love Jet mist with a passion. Lets give Nilgris some things to consider before rushing to Jet mist.
