Can cobblestone be painted?

We had a reclaimed cobblestone driveway apron and decided to add to it so that it would cross our culvert and keep gravel from spilling into the ditch under the driveway.

The problem we ran into was with reclaimed stones we weren't able to get a load from the same collection site and the cobbles are WAY different than the original apron.. Even after looking through the cobbles before installation it was difficult to compare to what we already had because they were all so dirty and in giant piles.. So I was pretty caught off guard (and heart broken) after the installation by how awful it looks. As much as I hate to even think about trying to alter them, I really dont know what else to do. The original half is closest to the road and is mostly gray. The cobbles in the new section are almost all more tans, browns, and pinks. Is it possible to paint cobblestones? Any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
