Okna vs Sunrise vs Marvin
Comments (2)I'd concur with the gentleman that you spoke with. The Okna 500 compares favorably with all of the other options that you've seen, and offers a great value. The Verde is a great window as well, but the Okna will best it both thermally and structurally (better u-value and air infiltration). On white windows surrounded by dark trim, that is really going to be a personal decision. In my experience, if someone is open to the idea and does not object to even the thought of it, they typically end up loving it as it can really brighten up the room/windows....See MoreAndersen Renewal vs. Andersen Woodwright
Comments (4)I'm not sure on the price comparison, but Anderson owns a company named Eagle, and I think it is Anderson's "luxury home" product line. However, we've had clients request pricing from Anderson in the past, and we didn't notice a big difference. However, this was only on a few occasions in the past 5 years, so things may have changed. Eagle, Kolbe and Marvin all build fairly comparable products in their upper-end product lines. Unless I'm mistaken, they all utilize extruded aluminum in their construction. This differs substantially from Anderson's vinyl extrusion and Pella's roll-formed aluminum. Remember, this cladding material is designed to protect the wood beneath it and is therefore very important. It is my opinion that unless it is extruded aluminum and using proper extrusion joinery, you'd be better off with an all wood window and keeping up on the maintenance....See Moreanderson 100s vs RBA fibrex vs Marvin all ultrex.
Comments (27)That’s not accurate LD, Todd is right. The amount of glass lost can vary substantially depending on what’s being removed as well as the product being installed. In some cases no glass Is lost even on a replacement, but that’s rare. The 1-1.5” loss is probably a fair average overall, but again, lots af variables and casement vs hung is not a main factor...See MoreAnderson 400 vs Marvin elevate
Comments (2)We just went through this! Had to replace two windows ahead of larger renovation and ended up going with the elevate for the rest of the house after talking to our architect and looking at them. Admittedly the Andersen window slides ever so slightly smoother up and down (we have double hung windows) but overall the Marvin windows look so much nicer. We found them in our area to actually be about the same price so ultimately went with the Marvin and really love them. It’s also nice that with the wood interior they could be repainted/stained in the future. We’ve just ordered the replacement for the two Andersen windows which is annoying but for us worth the cost...See Moremicaelala
