Extending wood floors without ruining existing--can it be done?
Comments (1)Perhaps you need a professional flooring contractor to look at you floor. Most floors can be sliced into to make a seamless transition from new to old. It is something we do every week....See MoreNeed help deciding on features for first pool..warning loaded ??
Comments (10)aquaman!! Did you make logs or blogs of your pool build? That looks awesome!! I have 50k budgeted but I wanted to get a fair amount of concrete decking and a arbor style bbq for my dh...oh and did I mention a small changing/storage house at the end of it! I figure my storage house with outside shower would run me 5k and the arbor would run me close to $3500 so for the pool and enough decking to fill in an area of 50x 25 leaving room for a decent sized pool would put me at 40k...I do speak Spanish, but I am lucky to live in an area that has local workers who all "know" each other and get great referrals..you wouldn't believe the awesome subs I had for my house remodel...people would really faint with what they charged me..I live in a rural enough area that folks still work hard for the money and their word means more than their profits...a rare find indeed and I treat my subs very well, I also wanted to build it after the 'rush' of summer when I could get the better crews as they slow down. Thinking of starting in September and finishing in December, if it takes that long, I'm really considering composite pools..there's a manufacturer just 20 miles away in Tennessee and I hope they'll work with me doing it myself...even though I speak Spanish, the Latin American crews actually had higher bids than my local guys...I need to create a spreadsheet to figure all costs up front and see if my acting as contractor will be worth the effort...my kids learned a lot helping with the remodel of the house, I'm sure we could create some science projects like raising tadpoles in the pool while it's being completed! :) Thanks everyone! I will get my worksheet out and bring it back to this thread to see if you think I'm missing something...thanks!! Tara...See MoreHow much to pay someone to do my laundry?
Comments (3)Wow, 28 years ago, I owned a coin laundry and dry cleaners, then taking in wash and dry fold on the side. I charged by the dry pound rate of 50 cents per pound plus $2.50 per load for detergent, bleach, softner, and wash. If they wanted items from the laundry I did pressed or steamed, I then charged .75 per item. I cannot imagine what the charge in today's market would be. If I were you, I would find a nice, clean, safe coin operated laundry...bring my washing supplies and lysol wipes to wipe off the dry fold table, then do my laundry myself. Items won't go missing and you know they will be done relatively quickly. It's much easier to have several washers going at once, then just get it all dried and folded relatively quickly. I believe so much in this method I put two washers in my home. So did my parents growing up, because Dad also had dry cleaners and laundries. It is WONDERFUL....See MoreKitchen cabinet dilemma in honey oak home.
Comments (2)Warm toned natural wood is making a comeback. It is not quite the honey color, so I am not sure how that would work for you, I have seen painted kitchens with oak trim: You might consider wood lowers with white uppers as it seems the lowers get the most knocked into and more chips. This is my wood kitchens idea book. It has both new and older refreshed wood kitchens - most of them warm toned wood. Maybe you will see something that would work in your home: https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/75202366/list/wood-kitchens...See MoreAlison
