36' drop in range & 30' wall oven vs 30' DF range
Comments (1)I would pick an all-gas range and electric wall oven. An all gas range is considerably less expensive than dual-fuel, and you would have the flexibility of two ovens & an infrared broiler (only available in a gas oven). You could use the gas oven as a warming oven, handy to the rangetop, or its extra large capacity for crowds. If you don't choose a range, then a rangetop will give you higher BTUs and large burner grids than a "cooktop", which has discreet burner or hob areas. I'd pick the GE Monogram 36" 6 burner gas rangetop. For an electric wall oven, I believe a GE Monogram convection gives good value for the price. Others may suggest good alternatives. We installed a 36" 6 burner DCS range because it was available in all gas while GE Monogram only has dual fuel. At the time, 3 years ago, DCS offered rolling oven racks, higher burner BTUs, and a simmer ring on all burners, while Wolf did not & was considerably more expensive. We're very happy with the DCS & would get it again. We also have an electric wall oven & love the flexibility....See More30' ranges in between GE Profile and Wolf/Bluestar?
Comments (28)I didn't buy extended warranties on any of my appliances and came out WAY ahead. The DCS, at least when I bought mine, had a 5 year warranty on the burners. When I had ignition problems they replaced all my ignitors with newly designed ones (although someone else on this forum said that DCS told him that ignitors weren't covered by the burner warranty.) They also sent me a newly designed island trim piece which redirected the oven exhaust gases better - they gave me the part free but not installation - I got a friend to help me install it. The general wisdom is that extended warranties are not a good deal except on laptops and HDTVs (I would have made out a little if I'd had one on my laptop). Basically you're better off saving the money and paying repairs out of pocket although you will hear stories from people who've had problem appliances and done well with their extended warranties....See Morevery torn between wolf ag and df please advise !!!
Comments (23)Hi, I'm new here, but I found this thread and was interested to hear everyone's thoughts. We're just starting remodeling and I have room for an AG or DF range, plus another oven. I've been looking at all the discussions around the Wolf 36" ranges, and now I'm beginning to think I should get the AG range, and make the second oven electric. But I've heard folks say they have issues with lighting the burners on the Wolf when the oven is on? I do a lot of cooking and some baking, although my baking is usually cookies, brownies, cakes, not bread. What would you do, given the option?...See MoreWolf DF or AG?
Comments (7)I've owned a DF range for the past 10 yrs. & need to replace it because of costly electronic problems that are no longer covered under the warranty. My range is a Dacor, which I've discovered is notorious for having these issues. I was going to go with another DF in another brand but my research is leading me to think that it's a problem with DF ranges in general. If I go with a gas range it will probably be AG, just because I'm so wary about getting saddled with another very costly unreliable appliance. Like I said, this is based on my experience (once bitten - twice shy) and feedback I've received from this and other appliance forums. One sticky issue for me is that I'm the designated baker for our extended family. Having an oven that heats evenly is a feature that's high on my list of wants. I'm currently waging a war in my head about whether I should choose induction over gas and having an electric oven is a main reason. I'll be keeping an eye on responses to your post. I'm trying to keep an open mind to all options before I place my order....See Moremaire_cate
