Wanted: Ornamental/edible Peppers
Comments (5)Alana, I have purple peppers-don't know name. The plants have purplish leaves and peppers are tiny red to start then changing to purple, very attractive ornamental plant. We just made a trade. I can send these in a plain envelope if you are interested. They should be ready soon. Sandy...See MorePepper Question for Jay (or others)
Comments (8)For a long time I didn't know for sure that ornamental peppers were edible, but then I read that they were, and I have 'sampled' them ever since. It has been a really cold winter here too and it may end up as our snowiest or second snowiest winter ever in Love County...the local paper said it was the snowiest ever but the OCS data doesn't agree. Regardless, it has been very cold. Even our warmest days have been cooler than average. We have three sunny days in a row this week. Now, if only we can get a little something accomplished before the severe T-storm/tornado type weather arrives and starts pounding on us. Y'all sound busy up there. I don't even think we've received our census form in the mail yet, but we did get the letter saying the census form was coming soon. I hoped to be planting this week, and then we got over an inch of rain at our house yesterday....just when we were almost mud-free. I'm going to try to plant tomorrow as it is just squishy, icky mud today and needs to dry out some first. Since it is too muddy to plant, I may go shopping this afternoon. I am climbing the walls from boredom. Don't work too hard! Dawn...See More? Regarding Ornamental Peppers
Comments (11)The picture with the peppers surrounding the tree was a great idea. I have a tree in my driveway where they pretty much did the same thing! I should dig out the shoddy soil, replace it with good soil and put some of the Medusa Hybrids, Explosive Embers and Bolivian Rainbows I'm growing around it....See MoreOrnamental Types
Comments (6)Although I was hesitant to growing Black Pearl last year due to space limitations, IÂm glad I did because of its beautiful foliage and dramatic red peppers. All four plants were over wintered in the sunroom. This year, IÂm also growing Fluorescent Purple and Pretty in Purple that were acquired through a tomato/pepper seed swap. Next year, IÂd like to try Medusa in an orange/yellow perennial and annual bed. To answer jkrup44Âs question, IÂd say both - attractive and not meant to be eaten because they are so incredibly hot. Below is a thread about edibility. Here is a link that might be useful: Are ornamental peppers edible?...See Moreweb_of_hair
