Electrical Wiring Design Dilemma Kitchens

I need a pop up outlet on my island, but they are HUGE!

I would like a pop-up outlet on my island. I would like it to have at least one outlet, and usb c. cordless charging top would be ideal. BUT...they are all HUGE it seems. Unattractive? 4 inches+ across the top seems excessive! Has anyone found a smaller one? I will choose white to match my countertop and would like it to be flush.

They aren't huuuuuge: ) When chosen in harmony with your top? They tend to disappear.

You can also mount them flush with the top instead of proud of it as is shown in the picture. matching them in color and flush mounting will make them much less obvious.

If you want to go further you could either 1) faux paint them or 2) get the ones that allow a top to blend with the counter (?)

Just wanted to let you know that we have decided to use Sillites for outlets along our main wall. These are single receptacles that are self-contained units with no need for separate junction box. So all you need is a 2" hole in cabinet or windowsill. Not sure if that works for you given your layout, but wanted you to know of another option that does not require drilling down into your counter. I do have a friend with a Mockett in her island and she LOVES it! Says it is no problem to clean around it at all. Good luck!

We had the same issue. Had to have them for code. Kitchen Designer put them through my beautiful quartzite and they look hideous. I can't even get them to pop up without breaking a finger. Was not offered that other option of using the quartzite. Should have done my homework. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I don't think we'll ever even use them.

It is really more important they be water tight for protection against spills.

If you have a white top and white pop up? It's going to be visually "Not there"

When you don't "need" it? It hides nicely under a decorative tray, a bowl of fruit etc,

Not a hand wring.

Just make sure your electrician, and cabinet folks know what, which one, and where: )

If you don’t like pop ups why not design the island to integrate electrical in fillers, legs, etc? In 25 years I’ve never needed a pop up outlet.

They're "huge" because you want them to be/have everything, not just a simple outlet.

Install them flush and, if possible. so they match your counters. Ours are black & blend in with our black counters so no one really notices them even though they are installed proud, not flush. Ours only have a double outlet so they're not as big.

what's wrong w/have a USB plug in outlet on the sides of the island? why the pop up?

yes it's convenient, but I use the plug on the side of my island all the time. not a big deal.

have you seen these options?

I'd rather have this,

do a black one on a black or dark island.
