Rose behavior during & after growing season
Comments (1)Interesting! I have nothing to add to this question...but it's definitely worth exploring. :) :)...See MoreThorniest rose you've got?
Comments (68)Mischievous, my HY is going on seven years. I got it in spring 2015 from RVR. It's own root and was a big sucker from them (not a band). I received it in February 2015! It's still surprisingly tiny- will it ever become the thug I know it can be? It's not even above my knee! Thank you Carol! I greatly appreciate the well wishes! It seems like it could get very treacherous indeed! Steven...See MoreMoonlight in Paris, what's it like?
Comments (5)Bleh... does not have the blackspot resistance that is so apparent in many of the new roses from Europe. Flowers had hardly any stems -- they always looked stuck on the canes and they couldn't be easily cut to bring inside. Shorter grower. I have not looked yet to see if it made it through the winter; if it didn't, I wouldn't replace it....See MoreRoses that got the shovel
Comments (63)Wow! What's the saying...one person's rose trash is another person's rose treasure? ;-) My Fun In the Sun made me so happy this last year (in its first year) that I bought a second one 2 weeks ago! We do get good sun, not too much BS pressure, but I don't get the heat that much of So Cal gets...though we do get hairdryer winds sometimes (which makes us vulnerable to the fires). And we get the May Gray/June Gloom -- but my FitS never balled. And, Distant Drums is one of my healthiest, loveliest roses. And, I love my Moonlight in Paris!!! And my new discovery is Ruth Clements, which took my breath away with her loveliness (though, she's still very young, so can't say much about the mature bush). On the other hand, roses that are bullet-proof for so many (Julia Child, Zephirine Drouhin) -- were disasters in my garden... I try to avoid just putting my roses in the compost bin -- and pawn them off on neighbors! That way I don't feel as bad. But this year I bought my next-door neighbor a rose of his own so I wouldn't feel bad that he has a lot of puny roses because he's nursing my cast-offs! Eek. This year I gave him my cast-off Olivia Rose Austin -- perfectly healthy, just not happy with it. And, I'm giving him a Golden Celebration. I have two. One was a 4" pot from Annie's Annuals, and the other was a one gallon from Heirloom. They are about the same size now, but I don't need two, so he got the one from Annie's. The one I bought for him brand new was the Princesse. Any news/word on Teasing Georgia? This will be year 3 for that girl, and she's done almost nothing....See Morepink rose(9b, FL )
