Do I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!
Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreShould I do a backsplash?
Comments (8)Either, Or. I think both could look nice. I went with a 4" counter backsplash and am very happy with it. Sometimes the tile backsplash can look good and sometimes it looks like an after thought. I know the difference when I see it in a picture, but right now I can't describe the difference. I don't think you can go wrong with a 4" counter backsplash and it would keep things tidy at the sink. I keep a small white microfiber cloth at the faucet to wipe things down after I splash around :) In my area I didn't want the added element of tile. I was going for several large areas of interest and nothing more. I have a bold floor, a bold vanity and contrasting counter. I didn't want another element by using a tile backsplash....See MoreSelling our house...what should I do about this backsplash?
Comments (44)I do think that a better faucet - a pull-down style - is a low expense but big return in "first impression" points. Hopefully the sink resurfacing will be done excellently, and not look obviously a re-coat. Such little things can go a long way toward creating a favorable feeling toward the house. Good lighting would be too, and might be easily improved with 3000k (at the least) LED bulbs in the existing fixtures if possible. I always like to see some simple framing around a window and it isn't expensive or hard to do, either. Just choose a profile that agrees with the cabinets and baseboards. If you do decide to add pulls, look at styles by Hafele- they have some nice simple designs (and you want to keep them simple for sure) and not expensive. Just don't go for the cheap looking skinny 3" pulls that are builder grade. When I looked at the photos again, my eye was drawn to the empty wall to the left of the window... perhaps a print, that incorporates some of the blue from the tile, would look good there....See MoreShould I re-do my backsplash??
Comments (55)I'm sorry I don't have a picture. One of our friends painted the backsplash area behind the stove in a warm color that complemented their white cabinets and countertops. Then they had a rectangular piece of (I think 1/4" thick) tempered glass professionally installed over the painted section. Looks great! The key is finding a glass shop that can order and install the tempered glass, and seal the glass borders so moisture doesn't get to the paint....See MoreLyn Nielson
