Fireplace - simple update what would you do?
Comments (7)Some of our colleagues are still focused on telling clients to leave things alone, but we figure if they are on this forum they want change: so let's give it to them! First of all, agree with poster above re TV above fireplace, especially since you have a lot of light coming from the side windows. Install a nice big piece of art. (no large clocks!) Secondly, you would want to balance the design using the same features right to left, for example, go with the same shelves on right and add books and other decor items of . If you want to do TV on right or left, OK., but take off cabinet doors regardless. Then, let's address light fixture: go with a lower pendant to hit the wall midway, with large art behind it, plus tall vases on mantel will add layers/depth. Hope this helps. Comments (24)@BeverlyFLADeziner I am liking that! Any suggestions on a blue paint color? Thoughts on if this rug could be placed in the room? (Pic of our current family room) or too much blue? https://www.potterybarn.com/m/products/bosworth-tufted-wool-rug-blue/?cm_cat=Google&sku=9076063&catalogId=84&cm_ite=9076063&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0cX79KG96AIVOv_jBx1m0gEnEAQYASABEgLD-_D_BwE&cm_ven=PLA&cm_pla=Rugs > Patterned Rugs Any chance you could make fireplace maple again but keep everything else blue? I like the idea of keeping that to tie in to kitchen. Thank you!!...See MoreFireplace -what would you do to update it?
Comments (11)Thank you - I tried adding more pics -yes i have thought about german smearing it! Mantle is a solid wood piece with worm holes. But I have also seen some real moody dark paint like black currently trending. I did recently update my foyer with Sw tricorn black door- and white paint in halls (lots of stairs and halls in this odd country house quad level). I am all over the place in style I think I like rustic not certain on cottage, farmhouse or boho I dabble in all! Will post foyer pics below to see style im currenyly trending toward. Have any suggetions on what to replace mirror with? I do agree it reflects nothing currently interesting....See MoreHow would you paint this fireplace?
Comments (8)You do have a lot of architectural structure…if you want to de-emphasize those details…paint everything to match..if you would like to add a feel of more height in the ceilings use the ceiling color in those areas...See MoreJ Mig
