Did I ruin my new porcelain tile?
Comments (13)Bill, The guy came out today and said there's nothing wrong with the tiles. He said the vinegar solution I used just cleaned the tiles and brought them back to their original finish- kind of matte. Is it possible for the entire bathroom tile floor to have taken on a "sheen" during the remodeling? He explained that with all of the workers tracking in dirt, etc. that this could happen. I would think instead of a shiny appearance it would be dull. I did notice that the tiles now have a shiny "picture frame " (grout haze?). If it is a grout haze on the tiles, how do I remove it since the tile has been down for a couple of months. Does any of this make sense to you? Comments (8)Most likely the dark spots are caused by mold - a common problem in shower areas not properly sealed (next time use a urethane grout which is largely impervious to mold). Clean with a good grout cleaner and toothbrush, then reseal with a grout sealer. Your local tile store will help you select the right products. Do it soon because the problem is not going to get better by itself....See MorePainter's tape ruined my bath vanity cabinet. How can I fix this?
Comments (1)First of all...don’t panic! Get some dark brown paint, closely matching the color of your vanity. What material is your cabinet made from? You might be able to get away with using paint from a hobby store. Get a slightly darker color, too. Then paint the part that is exposed with the paint that most closely matches your vanity. It will still be visible. The trick will be to lightly feather in a darker color so that it appears to mimic the “wood” finish that was on your vanity. You could also try Minwax stain pens, sold at hardware stores. I have had a lot of luck with those on scratched furniture and floors. Where is this located in your bathroom? It might be something that only you will see. Good luck!...See MoreHelp! Is there anyway to fix the color of the grout in my backsplash?
Comments (13)Yours looks nice! Also I notice with many professional photos, they lighten up / over expose the photo so much that the brightness is a bit unrealistic. (Your inspiration picture looks like it's been artificially brightened; see how everything on the left is almost a blur - the sconce, door trim, side of the cabinet. I'd guess it doesn't look the same in real life.) Your kitchen looks great!...See More- last month
