I am the Rose Queen. Who are you?
Comments (7)I really enjoyed Bailey White's short story. It was especially interesting to me, as Thomasville is not far, just across the FL/GA line. They do still have the rose parade and festival, and there is a municipal park planted with a lot of hybrid teas and a small heritage rose garden. There was so much that was factual, I am wondering if they really did the parade in the old days the way she wrote about it, too. Will have to do further research. Always so interesting reading about roses. I read it last night but didn't have time to post yesterday, so, I can tell you, this is one of those stories that will come back to you at odd moments when you think you've forgotten all about it, and make you smile. Thanks for posting it. Donna...See MoreQueen Palm help- what am I doing wrong?
Comments (15)So....I finally get to a big piece of info that I didn't know about. Apparently ALL our plants are on the same drip line. The landscape guy only put in one line back there when he did the wall. UGH! I had no idea about this. So, this means I can't do anything right? If I bump up the water on my palms/tropicals, I drown my roses, right? If I water the palms seperately say with a bucket or something, how much and how often? I didn't go down a full foot, but I was able to try and go down a few inches and it's pretty dry, yeah. About the Philo, yeah, all the tropicals minus the palms went in March/April-ish. The philo was really doing good and now it's just become so hot. I am trying so hard to find out what to do. I am upset w/the nursery we purchased all our stuff from because they're not calling back at all to help w/advice. The bird of paradise and our canna are doing amazing. Everythign else I am trying so hard to figure out what to do so I can save them. This heat sure is not helping me either. --Terra...See MoreOT I AM Back an update....on everything and Brian
Comments (13)Welcome back and congrats on the smoke free status. You're just brilliant missus (as we say in Dublin!!). Fair play to you (as we also say in Dublin!!). That's it now, you've fought the battle and you've won. Just be on your guard always for those weak moments and have a plan in place for the moments when you may be tempted. Comments (24)It looks like you had a great trip! Thanks for sharing. Believe me, it can even get worse in Beijing, with the inversion layer of smog and sandstorms(!) from the Gobi desert. It's a wonderful destination to visit -- but that's a lot to pack into two days! When the inversion layer lifts and the winds kick in, it does indeed clear up . Was the dish in the bowl at breakfast perhaps "congee"? That is a rice porridge that is pretty traditional. I always enjoys the selection of dim sum and noodles at the Chinese hotel buffets (in addition to the other choices)....See MoreKswl
