Often pre specified homes built be developers can lack personality and depth due to the need for simplicity and cost effective construction that generally make them more affordable. This home was no exception, we were tasked to make small non-structural changes to inject a little life and personality. The biggest change we made was in the kitchen area, where, we decided to flip the layout on its head to allow for a more inclusive setting, creating a flow on into the dining and living spaces. The more functional design created the biggest return on investment in its usability and family enjoyment. The new kitchen gave us the opportunity to lux up the space using dark cabinetry, leathered granite and brass accents which was replicated in the lighting over the connected dining space. The dining space introduced a lighter pallet of soft grey and white in the marble, which was replicated in the living room. The subtle connections of shape form and colour throughout the home created a soft energy that gently ebbed from space to space creating the vibe the family wanted to achieve.
