Santa Barbara Spanish Villa

This is a fabulously creative project with fun clients from Texas moving to Montectito. During the fires and floods no less! This amazing Santa Barbara Spanish Style home was taken down to the studs, and added onto, which took several years. Maraya and Auriel designed a super creative warm, perhaps farmhouse style Spanish home, complete with hand scraped walnut plank flooring throughout the three story home. The kitchen has new exposed beams, and arched grey traditional style painted cabinets. Joe Mross from Archive Designs made the incredible nickel and brass range hood, along with the metal and wrought iron work in the bar and wine cellar. Mostly white marble stone slabs are used, particularly in the kitchen and baths. White and grey marble tiles in various patterns are throughout the areas, along with hand made custom wrought iron lighting pendants, sconces and chandeliers. Dark blue painted pantry is one anyone would love, across the hall with limestone tile flooring. The villa entry has limestone and walnut patterned floors, along with antique style furniture, made new, but in modern creamy white fabrics. Intense colors project in the living room, with bold greens and turquoise velvets, bamboo silk rugs, and a plaster Spanish fireplace. The dining room is filled with handmade furniture from our incredibly talented craftsman, along with custom upholstered blue dining chairs with a Moroccan pattern on the backs. Arches and stone walls are throughout the home, which has a groin vault in the bar and in the wine cellar. The wine cellar ceiling is covered in long thin terra cotta tiles, old style. Laundry room (one of two) has a hand made encaustic tile floor, and a wrapping area and storage for presents. An entertainment room has not only a bar, but a huge TV and viewing area, brass game table with red upholstered chairs, and a fireplace seating area. Upstairs the master bedroom has intense colors of lime green, gold, white and black, with modern art and an old world style black poster bed with modern lines. Many baths have spanish tile themes, including the guest bath with traditional style white painted wood paneling. For the pool and spa, there is a rustic bath with copper flooring and a stone sink atop a vanity made from recycled teak wood. In some areas, old antique mohagany carved doors were used. Completing the home are beautiful white painted walk in closets, a hall bench, an office (not shown) with a grey manly office bath with black mosaic tiled flooring. Project designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Santa Ynez, Malibu and Calabasas, across the tri-county area of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills and Calabasas.
