Quiet Modern Luxury in a Historic Plaza Highrise

This high-end luxury home in a historic high rise in the famous Plaza district went from a dark outdated warren of small rooms with differing floor heights to open spaces full of life and light. Almost every room showcases gorgeous views of either the plaza area beyond or the English gardens below, while remaining true to its architectural roots.

Our goal was to create a luxurious but understated interior where our client could entertain friends and family. Or just relax with his dog. But our client was also looking for a more timeless modern interior that was light and airy.

So, we tore down walls and added more natural light to design an open concept living area that epitomizes quiet luxury with more understated time-less elements that elevate the space.

This custom designed kitchen features European style cabinetry, LED lighting, a thick mitered edge island top, an open bar area, hidden coffee bar/pantry, and custom stove hood with lit glass front cabinetry throughout - a perfect kitchen for hosting a holiday dinner or just family and friends.

The luxurious mini chandeliers over the island add to the ambiance of the room along with the accent lighting in the glass front cabinets, dimmable light switches, and a mix of neutral colors to give it that quiet luxury.

Pegged drawers under the stove top hold pots and pans for easy access, while nearby pegged drawers hold plates and dishes for serving. And a trash/recycle bin provides a place to keep trash hidden while making dinner.

The wall of dark cabinetry at back hides a coffee bar area for serving guests along with a place to hide tabletop appliances used for food prep.

Opposite the stove/hood area is a baking station with ovens for baking the turkey or making bread. And the bar area just to the right provides the perfect spot for serving drinks including a wine/beverage cooler, a bar sink you can fill with ice to keep beverages within easy reach, and glass storage overhead.

The oversized living room includes a dining room area plus an original fireplace that's been redesigned and retrofitted for gas with gorgeous sconces overhead we selected that relate to this luxury interior.

Updating this historic high rise bath built in 1929 was definitely a challenge, especially since some of it it was original. But if you know me, you know, I love a challenge.

The chopped up spaces made it feel even more cramped and small so my goal was to open it up and bring it up to date while also making it appear larger.

The floor to ceiling tile behind the custom designed vanity adds to the lux fee along with the marble style tiled shower. And by wrapping the drawers around the plumbing we were able to create more storage.
