Pollinator Garden

In 2015 I helped renovate what had formerly been a perennial trial garden at the University of Vermont's Horticulture, Education, and Research Center, a 100 acre arboretum in South Burlington that's part of the College of Agriculture & Life Science (CALS). Working with the Friends of the Horticulture Farm, a non-profit member organization that supports the Farm's collections, I helped engage a UVM Ecological Design class in the project and worked with a student who developed a new master plan for this garden.

Called the Pollinator Habitat Garden, it's full of mostly herbaceous perennials and native grasses with some woody shrubs that support bees and other insects. Plants were installed in early 2015 following the plan. Since then we've had several workshops to study sustainable landscape design principles and we continue to be a Vermont Master Gardener site for volunteer and education hours.
