North Fitzroy Additions and Alterations

Completed in 2017, this additions and alterations project involves the demolition of the rear of the original home of heritage significance, the renovation of the remaining two bedrooms, and the addition of a double storey and garage at the rear. The new works boast a beautiful amount of light filled spaces, and sensitivity to the existing home. Materials from the original home were recycled and re-used throughout this new work including the use of timber boards as a bedhead and side tables, and features throughout the kitchen and stair. The entire project is highly customised for our clients, including seats in shower, dedicated drawers for dog food, doggy doors and kennels integrated throughout the home.

The design of the form sympathises with the scale of the double storey Victorian residences on either side, and mimics the pitched roof commonly inherent in period architecture. The screen to the first floor is specifically designed to inhibit views into the neighbouring properties whilst allowing views through to the city.
