With the Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse, our Oakland studio managed to set new directions and challenged norms to design a guest suite that is bold, supports diversity, and bridges the gap between the physical and virtual. Aptly named “In Real Life,” we used various colors, patterns, prints, and digital media to create an elegant, beautiful space, and convey a message of harmonious living. We played with dichromatic colors like deep reds and classic black and whites that make a bold look. Digital art and NFTs represent the fascination for the multiverse, while traditional artwork and decor help stay grounded with the real world. Overall, this space is a calm, soothing respite that harmoniously unites the physical and the virtual world through great design.
