Presented with an interesting home designed with asian and mediterranean influences, this project presented the challenge of further defining the sites identity. A dramatic up-slope throughout the site prompted the installation of terraces for more usability throughout the space. These terraces included a bocce court, vegetable garden, and fire pit lounge area. Creating this series of leveled surfaces throughout the yard helped to create a more inviting experience, influencing guests to explore more of the garden.

As the site neighbored an open space hillside, off-site views were incorporated into the garden using mediterranean colored plants to highlight the surrounding native chaparral environment. Furthermore, golden urns placed on the top terrace of the site were used to draw the eye further to the borrowed landscape and provide a pop of color.
