I had a small hand held, electric, Dirt Devil vacuum I bought at my aunt's garage sale for $1. It worked, worked for years then the motor finally went kapoot and the sweeper store guy said it wasn't worth fixing. A new one would cost almost as much and they are better made these days anyhow. So I went online and bought one, it came with a supply of bags too. They hold alot and it's much better than the mess of a bagless in my opinion. The Dirt Devil has two speeds and its very powerful on pet hair, I have a cat. I use it on the rugs in the library and the mohair furniture. I love it. Only disadvantage is bending over to sweep the rugs but I've even been known to continue and do the wood floors too! It picks up all the crud that falls in between the boards (old house).

I have the Dyson V6 Motorhead and love it! The 5-7 minutes is only when you set the power on high. Otherwise, it's 20-22 minutes of power between full charges. 2/3 of my house is Saltillo floors. The rest is medium high carpet. I never had to use the high setting even on carpet. It cleans very well and recharges quite quickly. I like the fact that it's a stick which makes it easy to vacuum under low clearance areas. In other words, the dirt/dust bin is not a lower end as with the other brand models. I also have a Dyson upright but haven't had the need to use it since I got the V6. I did a lot of online research and read many reviews before settled for the V6. For someone in a wheelchair like me, the Dyson V6 is most convenient. No cord or vacuum hose to run over or wrap around the wheels. I can move in my wheelchair easily during vacuuming with the V6. I accidentally found out about this model while watching a Korean show. I didn't know that Dyson came out with this cordless model for a few years now. Wish I knew it sooner.

I have the Dyson V6. It's very easy to use and empty and does an almost excellent job in the kitchen. I bought an accessory short hose to attach to the vac for above the floor cleaning to get more flexible access to inside the microwave, etc.

Before the pandemic, old machines were available at resale shops. We picked up an old Singer in the wood cabinet with all the parts for $25. And it works! I need to try sewing with it. Many people who make bags (totes and purses) love the old SIngers. In about a year to two years, I expect to see a lot of machines available for resale again. Maybe there are some out there -- people who tired quickly or those who wanted to trade up. Dealers often have some used machines. That's how I got mine -- went to the dealer I called to find out if repairs were an option. He said no, but he had a very lightly used Bernina that was a honey of a deal. I went to look at it and discovered it didn't use any of the attachments I had, not even the same bobbins. So I started over. The dealer had Brother also -- I just had a bias against them because of all the cheap ones sold in the big stores. I think my niece would burn through one a year. But MANY quilters and bag makers as well as embroiderers are using Brother machines that do very well.
