How I Make A Toilet Paper Roll Pot
Comments (10)Albert, they don't come apart when they are completely planted next to each other and under soil. You can't use them as self-contained pots! If you look at the last picture on the first post, you can see them in the lasagna pan and kitty litter box. There is no way for them to fall apart.... that is until you take them out to plant. Then they might, but by that time you're done anyway! My husband built me a cold frame out of PVC pipe. Inside the cold frame, I have a couple of skids/pallets to keep the containers up off the ground. (A couple of years ago I had my containers on the patio and some slugs found their way inside! The nerve!!) The total cost for the cold frame was about about $20.00. It comes apart for easy summer/fall storage. Living in a condo, the neighbors wouldn't like to see me set up my old recyclables in full view on my patio. I have to at least try and be descrete... well somewhat anyway! (complain to me, they WILL be rewarded with a w/s plant)...See MoreCan we talk toilet paper holders?
Comments (68)We have 2 "Latitude" open ended holders from Gatco in the upstairs bathrooms. Each is held by two screws. They're rock solid. Love the minimal look too. But this time around we're looking at something different for the powder room we're remodeling. There are so many to choose from. This one comes in a variety of strong colors: Too 1st apartment? And too much work to switch to a new roll? Bookshelf, plus extra roll: Too rustic for us, but I like the simplicity of this one:...See MoreToilet Paper Holder Question?
Comments (28)cynanjon: Here's one. On that website when you search for bathroom hardware, 5 pages come up and each page has a couple of the open-ended ones. I was looking for Umbra specifically to find more of the ones I bought several years ago and LOVE. Not available anymore but I might have to try these open ended ones now. Think I'd mount them vertically just to make sure nothing rolls off the end. The one I have from Umbra has a metal bar the t.p. roll sits on. The bar sits in the side mounts. But it just drops down from the top and sits in. Has never popped up and out. Love not having to squeeze a roller to get it back in. Ouch! Lots of other manufacturers. I just wanted to find my old one by Umbra. Here is a link that might be useful: open end t.p. holder...See MoreReserve toilet paper holder placement
Comments (11)I have blocking in the wall for the TP holder, and that is actually why I asked about placement of the reserve, as I am adding blocking for that too. We have had a horizontally installed open ended toilet paper holder for years with no issue. Perhaps it's the placement of our holder on the wall to the right of the toilet (rather than the back wall), combined with our favored under vs. over hanging of the roll, but the roll does not get pulled off. I have already purchased the holder and the reserve, and will be using one of each....See Moreeli
