Outer (lateral) thigh pain — ?

last modified: 3 days ago

Two or three times a couple of weeks ago, while walking & standing in a store, then a few days later while standing to make dinner, I had this new very peculiar pain on my outer thigh.

The pain did not begin suddenly, but within an hour of standing (even on a foam floor mat) the pain grew. Intense burning pain while at the same time numbness on my outer (lateral) thigh. I told DH that I bet I could stick myself with a needle or pin and not feel it.

I’d never had that particular sort of pain. Painful and annoying, but not alarming. I put my complaint into a search engine and came up with a likely sounding cause —“Meralgia paresthetica.”

Anybody here ever had this?
