Sunny Day Sunday Bloomers
Comments (22)What is the pinkish one in the top right corner of the RED RAMPAGE photo? I'm going to be difficult and pick the one you weren't even trying to take a photo of as my favorite. That bright violet eye really caught my attention. COUNT IT ALL JOY is my favorite of the rest, and your PURPLE MAZE continues to look very lovely. I'm with you in not liking JULIE NEWMAR as much as everyone else seems to. Her colors wow me, but I'm not fond of her form in most pics I see of her. Comments (6)I have some pumpkins (and a volunteer type growing from a compost pile) as well as some luffa vines here and there, and some pumpkins and melons growing in a patch of corn. Seems like the only wilting problems I have is when the pumpkins (and even luffas) are in direct sun. Even the pumpkins growing out of the compost pile do wilt when it gets hot out, so who knows what's going on, lol! I always did hear that it's good to plant pumpkins and corn together. As for the drought, so far we haven't had a very bad one this year (had BAD ones for the past decade!), though we never get any long rains anymore. This is the first year where I've actually had a good garden and didn't have to water very much. Just spot watering some plants. We've been improving the soil for years, so that probably helps keep the moisture in the ground as well....See MoreSunny days bring lots of roses
Comments (15)Thank you everyone! I'm excited about Golden Buddha as well, there are lots more buds on it. I wonder if the flowers will be more yellow in hot weather? I was expecting the Gruss an Aachen to look a little different, it is the first bloom ever on a new plant so I don't know if it was mislabled and is actually a different rose. I was hoping that by posting a pic here I would discover the truth! Mr. Lincoln is another inherited rose, the blooms are so fragrant the scent wafts. It is planted in my mother's patio area and the scent of the flowers get blown toward the house and trapped in the patio and it becomes delightfully fragrant in there. I love it. Sundowner or Mohave, hmm... I looked at them on HMF and I think they are both better roses than my found rose. The blooms on mine have no fragrance or a slightly unpleasant fragrance depending on the smeller, they don't last long and when they 'blow' they are pretty unsightly. It only looks good in cool weather and will probably SP'd as soon as I need the space, but since I don't have many other blooms and that was a good one I had to post it. Thanks again!...See MoreIt's raining again...but sunny days were productive!
Comments (17)oops, wasn't finished...these will grow and get crowded/fill out over the summer, I'll remove some as they get over crowded, or if they get pests etc. Barb, with succies that are not overly sensitive, so common ones, plentiful propagators etc. I can just move them around like a florist would use cut flowers...replanting in an arrangement at will. I'd only do this a few times a year, otherwise it could weaken the plants. I'd use a trowel to pull them out in a good rootball and put the bigger ones in first, then tuck in smaller ones to fill. (For more rare or special plants I'd never put them in a grouping). In photo#2 the large dark purple echeveria at top is violacina. The pink E. at 3 oclock is Afterglow. The big pink trailing jellybeans is pachyphytum oviferum. It's great for containers as an edge trailer. Here's another shot if in in a single pot, This pot is about 14 inches tall, wth a rbick under, soon to need another brick:-) since I am afrais I will break the long stems if I try to repot. repot....See More- 3 months ago
