I have 2 today. A clock from DH's grandmother. We know it came from Czech. I looked it up and similar models seem to be made by Biedermeier. But I doubt this is genuine, more in the style of, but it is very old.

On Xmas day, my cousins and I were wandering around the woods and from a spot I've been in many times before, I happened to look down and found this horseshoe. Enough rain must have washed away the dirt so it surfaced. DH is in his 80s and we know no horses were in these woods for many years before that, so it must be very old. We just have to decide where and how to hang it.

Just an FYI. Biedermeier is a style rather than a specific maker.

My Grandmother's Joshagan Oriental rug. Over 100 years old. She was stationed in Baghdad. All the fringe is worn off, it was dropping knots. I purchased 2 skeins of wool yarn , blue & red, and whipped ALL 4 sides.

I also have 2. The first is from a miniature tea set that was given to me by a favorite aunt in the early 50’s. It was hers as a child, which dates to the early-mid 30’s. She & my uncle lived near us and I was allowed to walk to the corner where she would meet me and visit her for a while. They had no children and she died of a rare form of leukemia when i was in 2nd grade (1955-56).

The second is a pie safe that belonged to DH’s parents. I have no idea of the age but he remembers it from childhood in Ohio and he was born in ’46. It was in bad shape in their Florida basement so we took it home, had it refinished, and I keep placemats, napkins, & cookbooks in it.

I inherited this Eastlake chair. It dates to 1880's. I had it reupholstered. It is such a treasure to me.

jrb, there are 2 ways of thinking about that...one is to hang the horseshoe up so it holds the luck...the other is to hang it upside down so the luck pours down over you.
