Joe Rogan surprise

I'm watching old episodes of News Radio, and only now just realized that the actor/comedian who played Joe the handyman is Joe Rogan. The same Joe Rogan who, 30 years later, is the host of what is probably the most popular podcast in the English-speaking world. You never know where life leads.

Toronto Vet, isn’t funny how you find out about things like that.

I’m always amused when I tell people that rapper Drake was Jimmy on the TV series Degrassi High and how surprised they are. I still think of him as Jimmy from Degrassi. 🤷‍♀️

I never watched News Radio. I remember Joe Rogan from Fear Factor.

Never heard of New Radio but yes he will always be associated with Fear Factor in my brain. I find his " Stand Up Comedian" title to be most surprising.

Joe, I never grew this plant (it's not exactly common, is it?) but that's a nice one - how long have you had it? And for all those curious, as I was, it's from the Pedilaceae family (sesame), so open your hearts to it - I daresay you'd have to open your wallets to get one half as nice as that. Ghost germination: PepperJoe vs. EcoSeeds

    Q

Not a lot of experience (yet), but I've bought Bhut seeds from both NMSI and Pepper Joe, and I've had a 99% germination rate on the Pepper Joe's (19 of 20 seeds) and probably 80% on the NMSI seeds (8 or 9 of 10). These were germinated and sprouted indoors under plain jane flourescent lighting then moved outdoors in December. Bigger problem is overwintering with 3" plants (yes, I know I started too late in the season - just impatient, I guess). lost about half of them (due to neglect and a severe mite infestation), but the rest are now doing OK...just not growing fast enough due to the unseasonably cold and somewhat wet winter (I'm also in the coastal SD area). Most are only 6" to 8" but I am getting some flowers and a few buds now that things have warmed up.

I don't buy anything frozen at TJs or premade - I go there for inexpensive organic fresh vegetables and fruit, breads & tortillas, cold cuts and cheeses, and dried fruit and nuts. I buy chocolate there as well. I don't like their ice cream, and I don't like their mayonnaise, but those are the only two things that I prefer to buy elsewhere that I can think of. There are many things they do not have, such as grits and cornmeal, and I do not remember seeing frozen juices, but their bottled cranberry juice is the best and a great price. I think I got blueberry juice there also. I don't buy anything from the above list either. Lars

Drake was a toddler when Degrassi Junior High came out. He was in Degrassi Junior High *The Next Generation*. Still surprising.

I only know the name from hearing about his podcast, which Ive never actually listened to ever.

I remember one of my sons watching an old rerun of Different Strokes and being surprised to see Janet Jackson, who has since changed her appearence entirely a la all the Jacksons.

I had no idea there was a precursor to Degrassi Junior High!

Am I an uneducated "brain dead people" because I don't know who this person is? And don't care 🙂

    No.

If you enjoy listening to drive time AM radio with 15 minutes or less of real content stretched into several hours, then you'll like it.

Angela, it means you live in a bubble. And, that is fine with some people...if that is what you choose.

Calling people “brain dead” for the media they consume is inaccurate and lazy. “Brain dead” is a medical term, not a description of beliefs or intelligence. Redefining it as “living in a bubble” Only works if that person actually chose that bubble, so Ollie is right, otherwise it's the Truman show

Many people don’t consciously choose censored or distorted information that shape what they see, so people can lose their capacity for independent critical thought and judgment, to become a "unthinking" vessel of someone else's agenda. This isn’t stupidity; it’s influence.

If there’s a real criticism to make, it’s indoctrination or conditioning, not lack of intelligence. Using “brain dead” as an insult avoids meaningful discussion and replaces it with ridicule.

A meaningful discussion here has become impossible because of the censors, with people resorting to one liners to avoid triggering the censors, It's a dying forum. There is no way I could discuss what is happening in Minnesota right now which hasn't been covered by most of the media so far. It' might pop some bubbles, and I tried but never made it to print.

Kevin, I agree with you. I cringe when I hear someone calling others brain dead. Or any other name. It’s terrible and needs to stop. It reflects poorly on them. Nobody gets anywhere doing that.

" Redefining it as “living in a bubble” Only works if that person actually chose that bubble, so Ollie is right, otherwise it's the Truman show "

No, Truman lived in a bubble, even if he didn't know it. He was made a prisoner in his bubble, but he was living in a bubble all the same.

Other people can choose to stay in their bubble, or get out of their bubble.

"Many people don’t consciously choose censored or distorted information that shape what they see"

I disagree, and I see it all the time. They consciously choose to only look at information that they have been told is worthwhile and will tell them what they want (think they need) to know. I interact with many people on a different (non-anonymous) internet site that do it all the time. I suggest they read A or B, and they say they won't even consider it because they don't trust it - when I ask them why they don't trust it they have no answer. When I point out that their information source was proven in court to lie to them in order to increase viewership numbers, they "both sides" the issue and claim it's also true of every source (yet provide no evidence).

People choose their own censorship, or make their own censorship by being unwilling to consider all options.

It's not "brain dead", but it certainly is "brain weak" or "brain surrendered".

This thread is sooo full of the pot calling the kettle black , I just shake my head.

So what is your point, Elmer? I’ve been using AI to help clean up and rephrase my words, and to improve my writing. Is there actually a problem with that, or is it just a reason for you to dismiss the ideas I’m trying to express?

In fact, you’ve been an inspiration for me to work on my writing skills, I’ve learned a lot about tone, what’s appropriate, and what crosses into insult. You might find it useful to run your own posts through AI as well; you could learn something from it too.

    Bingo! Hahaha.

Angela, I don't know about you but I don't find anything in this thread interesting or worth looking into. If that means I am in a bubble, then I am fine with that. I would say the word you might be looking for would be "discerning".

Kevin - the reason why you see more coverage of the MN fraud on right wing news now is because it’s been politicized. Investigations and prosecutions have been happening for years on the prior administration.

    last modified: 10 months ago

And yet...freezing child care payments, the escalation of FBI resources and real DHS investigations in MN are just NOW happening-and NOW being validated. So much fraud in MN.

Back to Rogan. I never paid any attention to him during those past years. Fear Factor was not my thing...eating bugs etc NO WAY! I don't think he's a good comedian at all, actually. I only listen to him when he has guests I like and am interested in. He was one of the first hopping on the podcast train in the beginning-and 20 million or so followers is quite impressive!

Yikes! Sounds like there’s a lot of that going on. Isn’t that what your prez was found guilty of? Falsifying business records?

^^^ During his fraud trial I was expecting maybe 3 or 4 guilty convictions from the jury, but not for each of the 34 indictments. He does like to go big.

Yep, all 34 indictments, all 34 convictions, that doesn't happen too often, 100%, and by a jury no less. He will not give up on his vengeance is mine goal.

What's your point food? Sounds like you are mad the fraudsters got caught. Are you really arguing about HOW they got caught? Who cares that Nick Shirley got some "help". Amazing that is what you are really worried about! What about the fraud itself? So typical.

Besides, you are posting a story from bias news-without the whole context, of course.

Now, the rest of the (true) story...

In an interview from Nick Shirley:

"Yeah, so luckily there's a man by the name of David. I've known about the fraud for a while, but with having my own YouTube channel and having to do everything, it's hard to really investigate something in the detail as this man David was able to do—because he's been doing it for years. And he's been trying to get people to listen to him for years. He's gone to journalists, but they won't even shed a light on what he's saying. So with my research and his research, we combined it all. And then he was able to get the exact funding from somebody inside of the Capitol that had the CCAP numbers. And from there, we were able to go around the city, make our plans as to where we're going to go. And so without this David guy, a lot of it would not have been possible. Because I knew about the fraud, but how can you actually show proof if you don't have the physical numbers of the cash that he was able to provide?"

It is my understanding, GOP Leader Lisa Demuth (from your partisan-biased article above) helped them get the CCAP numbers, etc. She's actually been trying to get something done about this for years-but, kept getting voted down in the House due to Democrats being in charge back then. But, not anymore.

Roxsolid, he was fined about $500 million, that hurt, but it remains to be seen as I think he is appealing the case while he goes after his prosecutor for fraud, NY AG James.

" Sounds like you are mad the fraudsters got caught. "

Some of them, including the leader, were caught years ago. Regardless, the continuing of the investigation of fraud is always a good thing. But that doesn't excuse Shirley's ridiculous video "investigation" or the racism that is being hoisted on that excuse. All BS. I wouldn't answer the door either if a bunch of dudes came knocking unannounced and uninvited at my childcare facility. Good for the workers.

Please, Lord, let it not be another Comet pizzeria, that ended up with shots being fired in a crowded restaurant.
