I got them all except the last one. I think I know who the figure is, but is that pasta? salad? cabbage?

I understood the two easiest ones, the others, not so much. I guess I don't recognize the historical figures. Fun quiz, though. Thanks.

I guess the second one isn’t a hat, took me awhile. I don’t recognize the women or the last man, can’t think what would go with their paired object.

My cousin’s kids have Mensch on a Bench.

#1 is Boston.

#2 is a sock.

#4 is a jar of jelly.

#8 is kimchi.

I don't get the dunkin and donut in #1.

Dunkin' is very beloved in Boston.

I failed to even get the premise in that case. I was thinking it was a play on surnames Eg Mary Jelly, Jane Boston, Charles Chickens, Julius Freezer, Rasp Newton, Leonardo da Kimchi etc. I guessed 2 and 3 but they didn't make any sense to me. Perhaps it's that pronunciation thing again. Different vowel sounds.

Not sure your issue with 3, but Ali is pronounced Ah-lee, rhymes with trolley.

Do they have elf on a shelf in the UK? It's become a big thing with families here @ Christmas time. It's also kind of controversial, with some hating the practice and others enjoying it immensely.

So the object was rhyming the names with the objects in the same way. I thought it was cute and thought some members here might enjoy 🙂

I see. Elf on a shelf is infiltrating here but I completely missed the idea of the puzzle. Just thought it was word play on their names. For me Bach and sock don't rhyme at all and Ali is completely different from trolley (even when I'd translated tram to trolley.) Hence my problem. Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy trying the puzzle but my funny British accent was against me.

I had to do a Googke Lens search to ID several of the people. Rasputin especially. It was a cute idea.

#1 had me stumped until I looked up who the person was - and I thought the last one was showing pasta at first 😄

2025 was the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, so over here it's hard to miss pictures of her. This one was a colouring sheet at the children's library.

She's also on our £10 notes.
