Oh gee. What a kittie!!! Totally adorable and just the thing. I do say and have always said that the medicine for loss is a cat. I firmly believe that cats are additive. I have seen characteristics of passed cats in new cats too many times to not believe that and yet they are themselves. I talk about Margaret P. from time to time and she has characteristics of my DH's mother. She died and MPJ was born. Calicos are a class all their own. Good choice.

I had a cat named Agatha who had so much persona that one name wasnt enough and Itty Bitty Kittie was one of her many nick names. 18 lbs of intensity.

I vote for a better name. It takes a few days, but I always loved all the names I've given my 18 cats and four dogs over the years. But I always give human names and usually old-fashioned ones. Ruby Tuesday was my greyhound's name, and my last two dogs were Ziggy and Wally. I always had two syllable names ending in ie or Y, because you call them a gazillion times a day and it's easier than a longer name. No cat can replace the one you lost, but you're saving another little life. Good luck with her. Torties are fun. I've had four.

She's making biscuits! THAT is a COOL little kitten! I also believe love is contagious. Lose one cat and you can still love another. Also....my mothers name is "Ittie". She said they made fun of her in school doing Itsy-Bitsy-spider. Better name for a cat than a person. :0)

Thank you all so much! I'm going to pass it along to my own itty bitty. I especially love Lucille's poem. Somehow, it connects my loss over a Japanese friend and this cute kitty. Actually, I keep thinking that my child should name her one of the Japanese names I've sent her. Hmm.

Pretty Itty Bitty!

We once had a calico next door named Katie. The kids used to let her in to play and I’d see her walk by! Never knew the neighbors but we liked their cat! I like the name Itty Bitty! She’s adorable!

Chisue, I’ve been blessed to have lived with many cats over the years. All would come to hearing their names called, most would come running to a whistle. My last cat would turn his head and look at me if I mentioned his name in conversation. 🐈‍⬛

Rob I asked AI for Japanese words that sound like itty-bitty. Returned a few, one being ichibiri, which depending on the cat’s personality might work:

I have changed nothing! It's almost like my cat is reading my mind. Chyla is doing a perimeter search repeatedly. I haven't opened any doors to the upstairs suite. I haven't bought anything new, I haven't cleaned, nothing. She also keeps crying. From two feet away or from my bedroom or... I can't figure out what she's doing. Good old cross paws. Fluff butt. Snuggle fluff. I realize cats have lots of names 🤔

Not to burst the bubble…… I think Itty Bitty is a Tortoiseshell and not a Calico. Calicos are mostly white with large patches of orange and black. Tortoiseshells are a blend of black and orange with little to no white. Still, Torties are wonderful cats.

I agree that’s not a Calico. I grew up with Calicos. My grandfather had one that died shortly after his passing.

Yes, she is a tortie. My cat, Chyla has far more white, and I consider her a calico. Picture above.

Practically no white on Ms. D (Diminutive). Really is the tiniest thing I've ever seen?! I can't imagine what she's going to look like in person come next Tuesday.

Murphy came home today. That's the way it became really real for me. It still lacks monkey bunny, but that silly little dirty toy will be here on Tuesday.

The existence of the big patch of white officially makes this a Calico as Torties are only two colors. The distinct patches of orange and black vs smears and swirls also count but it doesnt really matter, They share some personality traits for sure. Lots of personality.

My cat Margaret P is a Muted or dilute tortie. She can look grey almost but when in winter coat you can see the peach in patches and swirls. These are artificial categories of course based purely on coat color. I have heard any breed of cat can present this way. It takes two sets of the genes to make them and it is on the X chrosome. To get a male you typically have three Chrosomes (XXY)and that is why they are almost always sterile.

Gracie was a dilute tortie and she had some of that "tortitude". She came home today too, in a cedar box much like Murphy's. It's hard to believe they're gone , isn't it?

I couldn't stop hugging the box that the urn was in. I just stood there sobbing.

It is so hard to lose them. Maggie is 15. She can still zoom up to the top of the cat tree but I know the day is coming. Sympathy.
