They count their months by numbers, so "six" is June, and "June twenty five" is recognized by all as a date of a terrible experience for them. The Korean War started on the twenty fifth of June, 1950 - seventy years ago today. I was in university at the time, and wondered whether I should join the forces, as neither grandfather, dad or I had been in the forces in either of the world wars. World War II had been a big deal but the Korean issue a much smaller one ... and I was busy in university. Some leftist supporters said that South Korea had started it. If there's anything that devotees of an ideology, religious or political system can't stand, it's to have hearers of their story make fun of it. When they made their claim that South Korea had started it and many hearers said, "Oh, right - South Korea started it ... and within two days they lost both their capital city of Seoul and their military headuarters?!?! Go peddle that story somewhere else ... 'cause it ain"t got no traction here! A lot of their leaders would very likely have got shot had it happened that way!" That really got them upset! ole joyful
