For various reasons we had to back out of Labor Day plans. A little disappointing as summer felt incredibly short, esp with our late start wirh good summer weather. But all is good.

I’m looking forward to fall though. Like wildchild’s area our new ”summer house” is in a busy vacation area, so the slower pace will be nice. There’s still sailing to be done, a cousin visiting from Germany, college parents weekends, so I expect September will fly by as well.

Anyway, Happy Labor Day to all!

We usually go to the balloon festival this weekend. So far mowing the yard of it's buffalo grass. Planting more daffodil bulbs and repotting a few orchids. We're still having heavy midnight rains. The southern part of town had terrible wind...downed trees...power outages...

Did we have a summer? It rained for a month. Then we had 1.5 months of horrible heat and humidity.

Lately, lovely cool dry weather, but a tad too chilly for swimming. Stlll, my favorite sort of weather 70 to 75 deg days with low humidity. The past few nights have been 48 deg F at 5 AM. Southern New England.

I love Labor Day because the neighborhood kids go back to school and their parents go to work. Peace and quiet reign at least until the leaf blowers start,

Summer weather was awful here. Ill definitely choose a warm, sunny day to head to the beach. This summer was just awful with heat, humidity and pouring rain.

Bit of a sad end to a summer that wasn't for those of us in the Great Lakes region, mid-east upper tier states. Oh, we had loads of rain and warmer than normal temps. But outdoors was mostly No Go due to endless days & weeks of Canadian wildfire polluted air. Day after day of gray skies that blocked out the sun. Pollution that looked like cloud cover. Burning, goopy eyes, blocked sinus, post nasal drip. Like living in a third world country. And not a one off year but the third and worst of three consecutive summers marred by relentless air pollution.

I can't imagine the economic impacts of this--reduced agriculture yields, reduced tourism, impact on health.

We slog through cold winters knowing that summers are generally wonderful and nearly every day of summer can be lived outdoors. But I am so done with Canada and so done with living downwind from intense air pollution. Where to go because I am so fed up with having to endure this. Yes, I am angry and I am not alone.

On the upside, air quality has improved for now so we can salvage a few of the waning days of summer. But too little, too late.

I’m in N. Central Alberta , Canada. Quite far from the Great Lake region. So no smoke pollution, even from the wildfires in our province. We have had a lovely summer. The crops in the area are beautiful and the gardens have been great.

However, this week has been extremely hot, and records are being set. 😕

I believe wildfires are something that are only going to get worse.

I’m hoping for a bit of rain, and a lot of snow this winter.

Labor Day this year will be a quiet one for us as we’re babysitting DD’s two small furkids while they’re on vacation.
Little Keeley is a 2 year old French Bulldog, a wonderful, sweet little rescue who’s paralyzed from the waist down due to some j*r! doing a home c-section on her, stitching her up and abandoning her on the street. She now wears a diaper but gets around fairly well semi-dragging her back legs. Their little American Bulldog is also a rescue and is about 3pounds of love and energy!

Have you looked into getting Keeley a wheelchair? I've seen several pups that use them and are quite happy running around! #2 is SOOOOOO cute!
