Lotta rain, soil washing away
Comments (9)Well, you can use my suggestion above and bag your grass clippings when you mow. (If you have a bagger) just be sure to dry them out first before putting them on the garden. The reason for this is when the grass clippings decompose, they get HOT. And could potentially harm your plants. I work at the Home Depot garden center and a lot of people use straw. We also sell pine straw, a little pricier, but works well. I would not use landscaping or wood mulch. You could also use leaves. We take the leaves off our neighbors hands in the fall and till them in in the spring, because not only are they a great mulch, but an excellent soil amendment. So. There are lots of options, just depends on what your can get your hands on.... I've also heard ppl using cardboard, newspaper....etc. There are lots of benefits to mulching: less weeding, less washing away of soil, keeps soil cool and moisture in after a rain, less splashing of dirt on leaves of plants which reduce diseases spreading. Hope this helps. Alley...See MoreIs it French tarragon?
Comments (15)Hi ,i just got a another new French Tarragon plant with me cz the 1st one that i bought was dead...so im wondering that did i grow it in the wrong way or i did not water the plant? so at the begining a month ago when i go the 1st French Tarragon, i put it under the cooling place cz im afraid that it will die due to the very humid and hot weather in my country in Malaysia which is from 32c to 38c during the afternoon, night time is around 26c.So i placed it in the toilet where there is very soft light from the window and i water twice a day, which the plant still look beautiful, then after 4 days in the toilet,i decided to move the plant to a bigger pot and leave it outside of my house which was still under the shadow but the wind will be slightly more warm and humid compare to the indoor shadow which is more cooling....so i left it outside of my house for about 10 days and it slowly turned brown from the bottom part then slowly to the top part, and at the end the whole plant was dead...i did water the plant every 3 days because i felt the soil was quite moisture under the shadow,so i dont dare to water it everyday.Base on my researched on wikipedia said that French Tarragon do not need alot of water but they do need " sunny pot and sun " which i did not really put it under the sun,so i would like to know that the death of the plant was cause by less water or no sun or too humid and heat? Now i got the new one here with me,and i still keep it in the toilet like my 1st place,i water twice a day and its been already 1 week now....so if i wana move it to a bigger pot like before, what advise would u give me to follow? So that i could grow it bigger and beautiful :)...See MoreHey, David, there's a whole lotta shakin' going on!

Funny, because no one in MY family even remembers the earlier convention! I had to drag out the pictures! I hear ya about the earthquake. I felt the one we had in VA over the summer. Don't know how the Californians do it! Your nephew is very lucky! Deb...See More$3000 for a whole lotta nothin'....
Comments (6)Sounds like you needed to go wider if the sun is coming in the side. The pitch can be adjusted on some awnings, but that just helps block sun coming in the front, not the side. Can he make you a drape in the same awning material that you could hang from the arm on that side, use shower curtain hooks to put it up and take it down easily ? Extra weight is a concern as it changes wind load and could bend an arm. Maybe just a telescoping pole added next to the awning with a curtain you draw out when needed ? I have had sunbrella drapes made for clients but installed them on permanent patio covers, not awnings and they are a very heavy fabric. Or perhaps you could buy one of the tilt top umbrellas to add to that side of the patio? To give you an idea look at fim-umbrellas.com, they dont sell to the public but have distributors all over the US and Canada. Pricey but well made and you can buy parts if something breaks. I sell a lot of them comercially here in Vegas. Hope this helps. Barb...See More- 10 months agolast modified: 10 months ago
