Colpocleisis for pelvic organ prolapse (POP)

last year

Does anyone here have an experience with the subject procedure? My mother is scheduled for it. She has put off solving the problem for years for taking care of dad during his decline (which ended 3 yrs ago). My sister decided no more waiting, chose this procedure among the offered choices.

No experience since it's typically done on those who plan on never having vaginal intercourse again. I do know, it's irreversible and that it's minimally invasive. Three things to think about.

She is soon to be age 84. I’m aware of your point 1 & 2, both of no concern. I figured your point 3, which is a positive. Wondering about any incidents of dissatisfaction with the results, although that seems rare/unlikely.

I think I heard all this in a talk, I'm pretty sure that somewhere between 10% and 15% are disappointed with the results. I thought the number was pretty high? I'm sure it depends on the person, and you can gauge, or ask what she might feel.

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find anybody who has experience with it though because it's only typically used on fairly elderly people.

    Best of luck!

Hmmm. I'm curious to know some first-hand details regards to unsatisfactory outcomes. Perhaps I can search/find some discussions elsewhere.

Well that sounds promising! Let us know how it goes. I'll be thinking of her.
