If you don't care about a lot of support, look up Wacoal Net Effect bralettes. They're very comfortable and wash well. I'm smaller than the sizes they list, but they fit fine anyway, and I find them great for gardening.

I like cotton sports bras for sweaty activities, but they aren't that supportive for larger cup sizes. I don't really care if they are sweat-stained because I only wear them for working out and nobody sees them but me.

Can you handle the Uni-boob bra? I found it pushes things into the center. The front hooks are easy to get on when just out of the shower. But...generally speaking....sewn-in-place padded bras asorb sweat....and that can be good too. Bra with front hooks click or Padded bra

We have a Nike outlet store here & Under Armour. Hence I own a lot of those brands.

Curious as to why support would be a major requirement for gardening. I am old and no longer care that the former perkiness is long gone. I wear inexpensive (cheap!!) leisure-type bras for gardening (and almost anything else, to be honest -- they are comfortable). Washed normally with a touch of bleach perhaps. No one but God and the birds see me when I'm gardening! My shirts are not form-fitting, so that helps, too. =)

I wear moisture wicking sports bras in Fl. Not cotton. I wear them with my vented gardening shirts as well as my boating rash guards. No wires, no pads, no cotton.

Chlorine bleach is not recommended for removing discoloration from body fluids ( sweat stains, diaper stains). It will cause fabric to turn darker yellow.

Oxygen bleach (ex Oxyclean) is recommended.

Also Shout or Clorox Pre-wash (? name) for oily stains.

What about using anti-perspirated beneath breasts and around area? That might help keep you comfortable.

Also, odd as it may sound, shower before doing work like that. It will remove any dead skin cells and perspiration ”glaze” and allow new perspiration to better wick away and evaporate.

In addition to finding the bra you're searching for, I've added a body deodorant. Not so much for the "smell" but for keeping things dry and rash free.

I've been using Lume, but there are less expensive alternatives.

Not just support - I don't really need that - more modesty and protection, in my case. That's a sensitive area!

Cotton for me - it does get soaked, but is also most absorbent. And I wear loose-fitting woven cotton shirts with long sleeves to protect my arms. Synthetic fabrics give me a rash when they get sweaty.

I use only deodorant, not antiperspirant, sweat helps cool you off.

I wear bralettes - no boning, wires, and minimal coverage, but I'm not big-chested.

I just bought my first bralette-- Bali One Smooth U Seamless Bralette. I like it. Kohls has them on sale often for $17. They were just on sale this weekend.

I don't know if cotton has enough stretch to support. I'm a C cup and the One Smooth U does support me. It also provides separation.

I wear some old sports bras that have no padding and i also have some sports bras that have removable pads and I take those out. The fabrics are technical moisture wicking fabrics (no cotton!) and made by Athleta, Nike, and I think I have one bra from Soma. No one but my DH sees me when I’m dirty and sweaty from gardening anyway.

@petalique - I used to keep Jean Nate after bath splash in the refrigerator! It was so refreshing to use in the summer.

I like a all cotton front fastener for everything and wash them every time I wear them. That is my answer to sweat stains and preventing lingering odors. I tend to use Oxi in all loads of wash and if anything gets extra sweaty a second wash with laundry sanitizer formulated for workout clothes. I guess I don't worry so much about support at my age, more about avoiding any 'headlights' showing.

It depends on how large you are, because with outdoor, sweaty activities, support can add comfort and coolness.

I typically wear light support sports bras.

I've recently been wearing the Under Armour Crossback Low. It has removable pads.

This Under Armour Vanish Seamless Low looks promising too.

I have several older Nike low support sports bras that I love. I really wish Nike still made them, but unfortunately they're discontinued. (Story of my life with favorite sports bras.)

Probably TMI, but my sports bras do get stinky sometimes, even after washing. This seems to happen if I've been wearing them sweating a lot doing yard work. If they start to stink, I soak them in warm water, white vinegar, and Biokleen Bac-Out enzymatic cleaner. Then just normal wash in the washing machine and good as new.

The only bras I wear now are Hanes Cozy Bras. No wires all stretch.

Dumb question, so Sports bras are worn alone, not under a shirt? Not sure I'd be comfortable doing that, I don't even wear shorts. And I live on a busy country road.

They are designed as gym wear. You can wear yoga pants and a sports bra as workout attire. That could be why some of them are padded and fancier. I remove the pads on all of them on day one. I have one that zips up the front and is a little preppy.

I wear them under my outdoor shirts when appropriate. I have no problem peeling off the columbia gardening shirt on my patio as I de-sweat. More coverage than a bathing suit really.

i recently visited a Soma store and bought their Embliss wireless bra. I liked it so much I ordered 2 more in different colors. They're very comfortable and supportive.

This is my favorite Athleta bra right now. It has removable pads and comes in 6 colors. I have 3 different colors and usually just leave the pads in unless I’m outside sweating. I don’t even know I’m wearing it.

Obviously we are not all created equally. I would not be comfortable in my yard, in full visibility of my neighbors in a sports bra. My daughter, sure. She's shapely and fit. No one wants to see me in a sports bra :-)
