We were gone for most of May; planted tomato plants just before leaving which neighbor boy watered for us, and I’m just now getting around to planting bean seeds , after prepping the area today. I hope it’s not too late—probably not since I live in CA.

28 POUNDS! Holy cow, its a world record! Nice job. All I've picked so far is 24 heads of broccoli.

Mine are nowhere near ready yet. Well except for the cherry tomatoes and I may have some of those ripen in a couple of weeks. In hindsight, i could have put my seedlings out a couple of weeks ahead of our normal planting date (April 15). We have had so much rain since they were planted, my plants are just now beginning to flourish. There are plenty of blooms now and they appear to be being pollinated, so there’s hope.

I did have a decent harvest of garlic this year. Didn’t plant my usual romaine seeds because…lazy and busy doing other garden stuff I didn’t do last year.

Oh yeah, the bunnies have harvested all the parsley, and did a number on one of the onions.

My tomato vines are setting fruits in dime sizes. But I’ve been clipping watercresses and basils and mints for the salads. The new strawberry patch continues to set fruits and sends out new runners.

Here I'm lucky enough to have 3 gardening seasons :

Spring = broccoli, cabbages, spinach, peas, lettuces, & carrots (all harvested)

Summer = Corn, tomatoes, peppers, cukes, squash, beans, blueberries (havested or in process) + cantaloupes and watermelons (still developing)

Fall = Broccoli, Cabbages, Collards, Turnips, Beets, Carrots (to be planted in Aug) + pears, & persimmons to pick in Sept.

Herbs (mints, oregano, basil, lemon balm, rosemary)

Kohlrabi

Bell peppers and Gypsy peppers -- both are early this year.

Gooseberries-- just picked today.

Our tomatoes are completely green and have weeks to go before any harvest.

So far this year: raspberries, redcurrants, gooseberries, asparagus, favas, lettuces, kale, chard, chicory and many herbs.

We've brought in peas, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, and our almost-daily clipping of herbs: parsley, cilantro, thyme, sage, rosemary, basil.

We don't plant as much as we use to do. But got fresh blackberries for a pie at a local U-pic farm. They have just come into season. It had so much flavor. Yum!

Grandma grew basil on her Bronx fire escape, so I do it on my balcony as an homage to her. We had our first pesto this week.

I ended up with 48 huge heads of brocolli. So good.

That's a new one for me. What I found from a search suggested it's not suitable in my area. Maybe that's why I hadn't heard of it.

I've had my few strawberries, dried a lot of cilantro, and clipped kale, kale, and more kale.

We're eating kale sauteed with bacon and garlic at least twice a week. DH is happy, his father always had kale growing. I can buy the same bag as I'm cutting already washed, chopped, ready to cook at Trader Joe's for $1.98 - would someone tell me why I'm bothering?

I have my first blooms of the season on tomatoes - they are a LONG way from any harvest.

Our community garden closed where we used to have many different veggies grown. Now we just have a large tomato patch at the end of our yard in the only spot of sun in this shady, treed yard. We have large tomatoes that are at last turning red.

Harvesting fresh whole kale leaves seems a lot more nutritious and tasty than buying bag of old cut up ones, morz. Besides, there's all the news lately about bagged greens that are contaminated with pathogens.

That's some tomato, rob! I've grown beefsteaks before - I think the biggest I grew was Hillbilly, fruits are yellow with red streaks, very few seeds and a silky texture.

I can't decide whether I'm envious or not of all the above garden bounty - more wistful, I think. I lost my garden, most of my herbs and many plants to the hurricane storm surge last year, but a pot of walking onions survived. I should've been harvesting the last of my tomatoes a few weeks back, and really miss having home grown. Store bought is never as good.

Several months ago, I started some basil and rosemary from store-bought sprigs, and they're growing on our balcony now. I already had several Earthboxes, so I cleaned out and bought wheels for 2 of them, and one is now filled with basil. I haven't decided on what to put in the other yet.

Really? Why? Fresher maybe.

You're bothering because growing things is enjoyable and good for one's mental health. It produces much tastier vegetables which haven't been sitting around or processed, allows one to know exactly how the stuff was grown and does indeed give you more nutrients. As soon as a vegetable is cut and washed the surface area increases and vitamins are lost through oxidation and leaching. With things like peas the natural sugars immediately begin to turn to starches once picked and the flavour declines. Also you can grow tasty varieties which are not viable commercially because they don't travel well or are weird looking.

I have been harvesting chocolate Habanero chilies and jalapeños, but that has been going on since February. Grapefruit season is almost over as well, but I got a lot of them last winter and early spring. There is not much else I can grow in the desert, although I do have a basil plant that I have to water daily. We harvest lemons at the other house in the winter from a tree that grows over our pool equipment from the house next door.

Forgot to add that absolutely nothing seems to kill garlic chives 😁

Harvested about 25 lbs. of green and purple Asparagus but stopped a couple weeks ago to let the ferns grow out and recharge the crowns for next year.

Just finished cutting the last head of broccoli from my 12 plants. They should keep putting out side shoots for a couple more weeks. Also still harvesting broccolini a few times a week from my 6 plants.

I've pulled about 50 yellow, white and red onions with about 30 more to go.

Leeks are doing well but I've only used 4 so far in a Mongolian Beef dish I made last week.

I'll sow some bush beans in the bed that has the onions in it at the end of July.

Tomatoes and peppers should be ready for the first harvests in about a month.

I have exactly one tomato plant, a Cherokee Purple. I bought it intending to give it to someone else but they couldn't use it. I planted it in a pot and it’s grown like Jack’s beanstalk. So far lots of blossoms but no little tomatoes.

I aimed my security camera on the tomato plant so now its known as the tomato cam.

This year I planted tomatoes and nothing grew, I don't grow any. But in the spring I will plant broccoli and other varieties of tomatoes so I hope to be able to share with you then. Any recommendations to help the tomatoes grow? Now I buy vitamins and supplements for myself because I don't have enough of this (thanks to Canada Pharmacy Partner I learn more about the vitamins I need). I already want to get vitamins not from pills but from my own grown fruits and vegetables, to be honest

Tomatoes are greedy when it comes to fertilizer. They also need a whole lot of sun. Can you improve on those?

P.S. the deer stripped my tree overnight of all my peaches?! They looked like they were going to be good
