Checking In-Anyone Still Around?
Hi everyone,
Been quite a while, but I thought I'd check in and see how everyone was doing.
Still living here in the Denver area (Westminster-lived in Arvada for about a year and when that wasn't working anymore, I moved over here into another roomie situation).
Worked a few jobs since. Some were seasonal (best one was at a local nursery called Echter's-family owned and operated-I was a cashier, but still a lovely place). Now working for a grocery store chain (Safeway). Been there for over a year (almost a year and a half).
Best of all, I met someone quite special a couple years ago, and now, well, he's my boyfriend :). We became official two days after my 35th birthday back in March. He has to eat gluten-free, but we both like Asian foods, and we found a nice pizza place that has GF pizza (and is super delish-reminds me of a pizza place in my hometown). We're looking at places to live together, and when we find one, it'll be one more year here in CO, then off back east to find somewhere cheaper and greener/more precipitation (he's originally from Kentucky and went to college in Iowa).
Still cooking up a storm when I can. Work keeps me pretty busy these days. Gardening when I can, too. Mostly house plants, but I dream of having that big garden paradise I've always dreamed of, along with a pretty house and a big kitchen.

Comments (7)That is a nice story but I think it happened because although there are exceptions to every rule, I beleve that on the whole women are nicer beings than men are. I played industrial league softball for 9 years in my 20s & 30s and 3 more after 50 and I can tell you there's NO WAY that would have happened. I could see an opponent helping me off the field if I was injured but never do anything that would alter the score in my favor. They would make you crawl the bases on your hands and knees! I've seen a first baseman grab a little dirt and flip it into a baserunners eyes just as the pitch was being thrown, knowing the (one) umpire wouldn't see it. Sportsmanship? Comments (44)Here I am years later checking this post and still in search of Laura Ashley Pale Gold 2 formula. I've hung on all these years, but my living room now really needs to be repainted and I can't find anything close. Everything I've tried is either too lemony yellow or too orange. I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows of a pale or faded gold color. My bungalow living room is full of stained wood and a pale gold offsets it beautifully. Comments (96)Nice room. Looks inviting as is. Getting someone to do upholstery work is expensive. A local auto/window and interior fabric repair place might know others that will sew covers for home furnishings from whom you might get additional estimates. Like the secretary angled in the corner. Would probably consider removing the kitchen/dining objects and replacing them with items more living room oriented -- framed photographs of places or people and/or other family treasures; then, since the doors have glass, close them. Like the niche near the door with the vertical art. Would want a snake plant in the pot on the plant stand near the window. Solid colors for throw pillows and other fabric furnishings -- unless you have a very specific theme you particularly like such as geometric design or floral or forest or beach. Larger lamp shade for the table lamp -- white for all shades. Probably full curtains or drapes rather than cafe curtains. Use mini blinds inside the window frames for privacy/light control and curtain or drape panels on a wider than window rod that will cover the side frame of the window with your sheer curtains in between or on an inner rod....See More

Oh, I forgot to show y'all last year's creation. I didn't wear this one for work, but she was fun :). Does she look familiar? Didn't have to spend much on this one. I had mostly everything save for the glasses.
This is what I wore for work (I actually worked the day before Halloween, but they still allowed me to dress up). I didn't physically make the dress, but I did style the wig and applied my own makeup (a little faded here).
Unsure of what this year's will be. But hopefully something fun and amazing.
Annie, glad you still make my Gram Bertha's lemonade. I haven't made it in a while, but the last batch I made was quite good. I think I did my variation and put an orange into it as well.

Last night's unexpected (wasn't planning on canning anything until I saw cherries were on sale at work) culinary project. I LOVE canning. Have some jam with your toast, muffins, biscuits, or cheesecake, whatever strikes your fancy. ;)
