I’ve had issues too lately. I wrote several posts on different threads in the past 3-4 days. I know they posted but maybe not for long. When I went back later in the day, my post was just gone. Really weird, and I didn’t bother to go back and try to comment again because the thread was beginning to drop off anyway and my comment was too long to try to remember.

It was an unusual property when we purchased it in 1991. It had a gravel driveway 213' long. This was my first experience pouring colored concrete. Took us 4 days. The neighbor came over, told us, we'd NEVER get our money out of it. 😂 Boy was he wrong!

Where do the outside stairs go?

@blfenton....the stairs go down into the basement. There's 2 more bedrooms, a full bathroom, a family room with fireplace, laundry and a pantry. Also a long row of cedar lined closets, a floor safe AND valuables closet. It keeps the stairs from taking up floor space inside the home.

@rob333....THIS last house, one day there were 101mph winds, as was usual for about 3 months every year. The gas grill was on it's side being blown around to the dinning room. I went outside, I weighed 110lbs, I could NOT budge the grill and it was going to crash through the wall of windows. I had to call Robin @ work to come home....it was frightening. We had expansion joints in the walls...so the house could move in the wind without cracking. The master suite had walls of glass windows. We slept downstairs when the wind blew. VERY LOUD & SCARY! It looked cool! During the 27 years we lived there, we replaced the glass in ALL 38 windows 3 times! I worked in CIT, full time, 3/12 hour shifts. I had 4 days off, I had the time....so when the cedar siding needed stained, I did it, 3 stories up on scaffolding.

So, no, THIS house is down low, in a valley. The siding is stucco. The backyard slopes down. When we go out onto the deck we're in the canopy of tall pine trees....in the tree tops. Great horned owls sit in the trees at eye level. We're forested in. When the winds blow 101mph...we can hear it....and see the tip top of the trees moving....but get NONE of it. It's quiet & safe.

What is CIT?

27 years sounds like a long time to live in a house that you had so many non-trivial issues with. Any one of those would have been enough for some people to want to put up a For Sale sign.

@Elmer J Fudd...Behind the house, 1/3 of a mile up the hill was a trail in National Forest. I took up trail running, it was the most BEAUTIFUL area....small creeks, exposed red rocks, moss covered rocks....it was heaven on Earth! ....and ....we had private access to it!

I see - a mitigating benefit that more than compensated for the issues.

I guess I'm feeling home sick....I do miss the forest behind the house. There are trail head access parking lots....I should plan a visit.......there's a snow storm coming in....it will have to wait....

Cool house, Nicole. You sure put a lot of work into it while you lived there. My husband and his two friends are headed to Manitou Springs on in a couple of days-one of many stops in Colorado they have for a week of fly fishing. Last year, hubby and son and I, ate a slice of pizza in the town of Manitou Springs-very interesting place with a "hippie" vibe.

@OllieJane.....It's very "artistic", outdoorsie, hippie. 👍 It has a large gay population, everyone has a college degree. There are three high-end gated communities. Lots of custom homes. Eateries. A mandoline shop. Indian jewelry tourist stores. A taffy shop(Patsies). Natural soda Springs, 7 wells in town, free to sample. And....2 haunted castles. 👻

I like the house. I would not be drawn to it at this age. For one thing, I don't like wind...we get plenty of that already being coastal and ours is rarely a warm wind, I like a little more landing space and storage around my bathroom sinks too. Do I dare mention I know I would not do well with that much open shelving in my kitchen? I would try to stay neat - and matched - but it would be an ongoing battle. Back to the age thing - I don't need battles.

Nicole, do you know how hard it is to find clear cedar of any quality these days?!!!!! If by chance some can be located, the price is exorbitant! I may roof this year. I've yet to see any cedar roofing shakes worth their price and this is timber country....

@morz8....Clear cedar is beautiful! I know! It's VERY expensive! The kids painted it twice. Once grey, then white. I agree about the kitchen...I like upper cabinets too. They also took the door off to the water closet in the master suite. I "need" a bathroom door!

We watch a remodel show with Christina El Moussa...she says...don't remodel a house to YOUR taste ....just in another popular style.....then sell it. You won't get your money back. The new owners will remodel it anyway.
