I just listened to Grazing in the Grass today. What a fantastic throw back song. I cannot hear it without dancing.

I know lots of younger people who have enjoyed listening to music from the 1960s and early 70s instead of rap and hip hop. I'm okay with hip hop, but there is very little rap music that I feel will stand the test of time.

My favorite periods include the early 1980s, in addition to the 1960s, but I also like big band music from the 1940s, even if it was before I was born. I like 1950s music better than most music from the mid 1970s, even though I was a small child in the 50s and in my 20s in the 70s. I felt cheated that disco music became popular in the 70s because I never liked it.

There is still new music that I love, but just not as much as there used to be. Beck is a good example of that.

From the 1970s, I liked David Bowie, Brian Eno, and Roxy Music, as well as Led Zeppelin (which I had followed from 1968) and the Rolling Stones.

I don't know why but after college I found myself more often listening to "oldies" stations than current. Oldies as in older than the music I grew up with. From about the 80s on I found little modern music that I cared to listen to.

I am old enough to remember and still love doo wop. ( I know, I know)

I'm barely a boomer, and my list is similar to the OP. I'd add John Denver, Dan Fogelberg, of course Simon & Garfunkle and Cher.

It made me laugh to think of Elton John and Queen as boomer music. To me, boomers were my parents. So Tony Bennett, the Rat Pack, big band. I like those, too.

We all become "Boomers" at some point. DD2, who is far from Boomerdom, went to her first "oldies" concert---Blink182.

I like a few individual songs from the 70's - 80's, but have latched onto some more current music. Pink's song, "So What". The video is silly FUN! Or...Billie Elish's song, "Bad Guy". Or....The Tones...."Dance Monkey". Shine Down, 2008, "Sound Of Madness". Nickelback is a favorite group, "Rockstar". I don't feel stuck....I like Vivaldi The Four Seasons...or have a few Mozart & Bach CD'S. Chuck Berry, "Johnny B Goode"....love it! (1958, year before I was born)

i do like a few contemporary individual artists whose music is more subdued, no crazy loud stuff (although i do love to hear booming bass guitars). louis capaldi has some songs that get me right in the feels. he struggles with tourette syndrome, he really is amazing.

Too many to name favorites, and some are favorite songs vs. groups. But I do love listening to 70s on 7, the Bridge, and the Blend on sirius xm. I never paid much attention to who made what songs when I was growing up -- just listened on the radio. Now that the car display shows the song title and artist, I'm like, Oh that's who sang that song!

I'm a child of the 80s, so that's where my particular affinity lies, and like bpath pointed out, I think a lot of that has to do with memories of a certain time. And if you follow the Weekend Music threads, you know that I have a mild obsession with Phil Collins and Genesis. But, like nicole, I think there's some fantastic current stuff out there, and I also like a lot of 70s and to a slightly lesser extent, 60s.

When we were kids, my father ONLY listened to classical (the slow 'boring' stuff) - he would shudder at the thought of pop music and made us endure what seemed like hours of classical on long car rides. Hated it then, but as I got older, I realized its theraputic value and now when I need calm....it's what I'll put on. Oh, also, like Lars, I like some big band stuff too - love peppy, swing music.....did you know Phil put out a big band album in the late 90s?

The Beatles are as close as I come to organized religion. I am astounded at how many of their songs are embedded in my memory, and how good they make me feel. There is a Beatles tribute band called The Meetles that plays regularly in Central Park at Strawberry Fields. I love to go, sit on a nearby bench and sing along. I know I'm just some old lady sitting by herself singing and I don't care.

The 'baby boomer' years are defined by those born between 1946 and 1964. Too late to have much of a draw from Tony Bennett, et al. That was my parents' music!

I am a lover of classic rock and roll, which is generally described by music from the 60's through the 90's. And I am not too picky about anything during those years :-)
