No, that photo was taken in Texas, which is where I grew up. I did not move to California permanently until I was 23. Texas was generally warm at Christmas, although it had the potential to be cold.

Ha! Well, as a northeasterner--where the temperature was 7º when I got up this morning, and 0º yesterday--I picture Texas (and assorted other states) as sunny and warm too.

I don't believe any pix of my first, second or any subsequent Christmas exist. I've certainly not seen any. I don't think my parents owned a camera when I was small. And when they did get one it was not much used at home.

FOAS, we were both brats! My poor dad usually broke out singing ”Thank Heavens For Little Girls” in his best Maurice Chevalier voice, to block it all out. I had two more younger sisters later on. Brats as well. We grew up fine.💕

Alisande -- Great idea for a thread! I don't think I have a baby pix to contribute. I know I have one of my first summer, where my father and his brother are displaying their darlings. My cousin, a year older, is a happy boy. I, on the other hand, look like what I was, a baby recovering from surgery for pyloric stenosis. (How can you trust a world that has cut you open with only a sugar cube of whiskey to dull the pain?)

Jeb -- My first crash landing came a little later. My DM caught her foot in the cuff of her fashionable (WWII) wide-legged slacks and dropped me down the stairs, also carpeted. I carried on through the open door of the powder room at the foot of the stairs, stopping inches short of the base of the toilet. Mom was badly bruised and went to a costume party that night as a bum. Me? Not a scratch.
