I'm SO Happy to be Home!

Surgery went well and I am home. Of course, I am in pain, but less today than yesterday. And I’m sure tomorrow will be less than today. Baby steps.

I thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.

Rest today, get up and get moving tomorrow. May not like it when you are doing it but it really does help with recovery.

Hi Kelli~A few years ago I found these folks and they helped me along the way as I planned my Ozarks gardens...still have so much to learn, but one thing you can count on ...they are always there for you and they are the most encouraging and supportive group on the Gardenweb! I had to to move away for a while and spent some time in the northeast and tried to hook up with those folks, but is just wasn't the same...now I am in the Pacific and where do I still go?? Back to the Ozarks (where I hope to return one day)...and I am still drawing on their sense of family and knowledge... You'll love it here and will learn a lot ...

That's great news. I am happy for you especially since your son is military. No matter how any of us feel about the war, we appreciate our military people. We spent many holidays alone. Because of the parents and step parents issue, I decided what ever day my children could be with us was "the" holiday. The Christmas my oldest granddaughter was four, they were stationed in Abeline. We lived in San Antonio and my son's father lived in Kingsvile and my DIL's mother lived in Robstown. The kids had their Christmas at home and then drove to SA. The next day we had our Christmas. The day after they drove to Robstown and had Christmans at my DIL's mother's house. They went to my ex's on Christmas morning and had Christmas. Soooooo,my granddaughter got up the day after Christmas expecting it all to happen again. She was a tad disappointed.

Before and After Lawn My house sits on top of limestone rubbles. I have to admit that I bought worms from worm grower somewhere and put worms in various spots 2 years ago. Apparently, it worked. I have earthworms everywhere now. I had absolutely zero earthworm when I moved into the house in 2005. Here's what I think helped the most... Organic program. I use organic fertilizer. I have st augustine lawn where I mow at 4 inches. That probably made things much more favorable for worms. Ground is a lot cooler and stay moist longer. I water deeply every 2 weeks. Absolutely no chemical pesticide at all or at least use the least toxic possible if necessary. Not sure which product so you'd have to do a bit of researching. I mainly use beneficial nematodes for pest control. I think earthworms make a huge difference for improving soil. top 4 inches are very nice till you hit rocky part.

Hi Everyone, I'm here. :) Sorry I missed your bumps! Nothing has changed since my last post, still waiting a couple more weeks for my next ultrasound and doctor appointments. Still no symptoms, just feel like I'm living large and gained 7 more pounds stress eating. We haven't told anyone else yet as I want to wait for the NT scan and the Panorama test we are doing (it's the one for Down and other chromosome screening). It was suggested I do it at my "advanced maternal age" and I couldn't not know if something is wrong. It takes 2 weeks for the bloodwork to come back and you all know how I love to wait. It's all I seem to do! I still have no symptoms while all my online pregnant mommy friends are still nauseous or suffering from morning sickness, all sore and tired, crazy cravings, etc. I kinda feel left out with none of it! Whatever I pictured pregnancy to feel like, this isn't it. I tried on some maternity clothes and I just look ridiculous. I ended up just going up a size in regular clothes as nothing looked right yet. I wish it was still winter and I could hide in my sweaters and leggings. Hopefully I'll relax once we get all the test results back and I know everything is ok. We find out the gender from the test too so that part will be exciting. Thank you for thinking of me. I'm trying to stay off my computer as I tend to google like crazy and get myself all worked up. :)

I’d be lying if I said I am doing great. But I’ll get through it.

I don’t have a handy dandy hospital bed that goes head and foot up and down, which would make getting in and out of bed much easier. First night I got out of bed 3 times to pee. While sitting on the edge of my bed, the mattress kept my feet about 4” from the floor. Gravity is a b*tch! I couldn’t take it anymore. I spent the rest of the night in my recliner. SOOOOO much better. And that’s where I’ll spend the rest of my nights until the pain subsides.

When we knew what was coming, we made big pots of our favorite soups and stocked the freezer. He won't have to do much cooking that way.

I am blessed. My husband is taking such good care of me.

Hang in there, Donna! Thank goodness for caring husbands, soup and recliners. Get as comfortable as you can — lots of warm soft blankets and pilows. Sleep! Talk with us. Tell your sweet DH that he is top notch.

Glad you've discovered the recliner and hope you'll get better rest there.

Talk to your docs about pain management. Hurting slows your recovery.

You can always complain here. Husbands hate feeling helpless when you suffer.

So glad to see that you’re home and doing pretty well. Recliners can be so helpful for a lot of surgeries. And happy to hear you have a good caregiver at home with you. Mine has been super during my surgery and recovery. Could not ask for better and it sure makes life easier, doesn’t it?!

I don’t know how I missed your post a few days ago.
