how do you get your winter sown pictures on this site
Comments (10)I upload pictures to a folder on a friend's web server, and use the same html link to his folder, instead of a photo-hosting website. Claire over on the New England Gardening forum uses Tinypic. According to her, the advantage of TinyPic.com is that it's very easy to upload one photo and link to it, and you don't have to set up an account. The disadvantage is that you can only upload one photo at a time, which is not useful if you want to show many photos. Claire's instructions for using Tinypic.com: 1. The photo files on your computer must be in a format such as jpeg or jpg. 2. Using Tiny Pic, you hit the "Choose File" button and it searches your computer desktop. 3. Choose one then select a size ("Resize" button), and then UPLOAD NOW. 4. When the file is uploaded, copy the HTML tag, not the IMG tag. 5. Paste the HTML tag in your post. Here is a link that might be useful: tinypic.com...See Morein selling, how do you get permission for hybridizer's pictures?
Comments (4)Most of the big hybridizers apparently don't care if you use their pictures because most everyone uses them. I use my own pictures if I get good ones. It is so hard to get good pictures, because of lighting, rain, weather etc etc. I have asked a couple of people who are "Big" hybridizers and they say sure use them all you want. If you want you could email them and ask. Other people who sell on the Lily Auction or post their pictures on their personal websires, always ask, some even say to "do not use their pictures without their permission". Some say it's alright to use them as long as you give them credit for the picture. It must be decided on a person to person basis. I have noticed many many people using the Stamiles, Trimmers, F Smith, Lambertsons, Gossard, Gaskins, Salters etc. pictures. I try to remember to give credit for the picture and the descriptions, but alas sometimes I forget. So when in doubt "ask". Many people copyright their pictures and to use them is a no no. Hope this helps. This is just my personal opinion, I'm sure some people might even be appalled at my answer. So sue me. I put my name on my pictures so I don't care who uses them LOL. I'm going to post some of my favorite pictures from last summer on another post so enjoy. Dot...See MoreHow do I get the white oak look of these pictures for cabinetry?

Comments (10)I want to add my recommendation to those of the others who like Open Shell. Every so often, perhaps after an update (but I haven't been paying attention to when), I find that the Open Shell start button with its picture of a shell and the rest of the first screen shot has reverted to the rectangular live buttons favored by Microsoft, but a reboot or other finagling gets Open Shell back. To me, it's worth the trouble to keep Open Shell. My husband uses Open Shell, too. Kudzu9's comment is true, that we have to learn new things from time to time. I don't resent that time at all. What I don't want to bother to learn or get used to is any changes that I hate, like the kind of desktop we can avoid by using Open Shell. When I can reverse such changes without incurring any danger to my PC, why not do it? I am old, too, Jane! Love computers; hate cell phones, but use one...grudgingly....See More- 11 months ago
