@roxsol LOL! Thanks for that - made me laugh. My first thought at this post was ”mass influx of migrants from southern neighbor”

@KW PNW - maybe our prime minister should promise to build a wall, to keep out our neighbour's unwanted surplus residents.

But that's a heck of a lot longer border than the one with Mexico.

But that shouldn't be a major worry to us, if we can require that the country from which they're coming pay for the wall.

Plus - if they must not only build it, but also provide the materials ... think what a boost that'd be to the U. S. economy for that year/those years!

@HU-127064464 Sadly, you gave me a laugh too. Many of us are laughing as what else can we do? What keeps me awake these nights is thinking about the replacement person who would take over should the elected person become unavailable for any reason. Don’t know which one of them is scariest. The other sad thing about the state of our beloved country is that not enough people who are eligible to vote exercise that right. A puzzle I’m sure to many countries who are fighting & dying for the right to vote & choose. In 2020, a mere 66% of eligible voters did so. I haven’t seen our current numbers yet. But, one has to wonder what the outcome would’ve been……. I do hope that our allies remember that 48% of the vote was not for the winner.

KW Keep your chin up and keep smiling. 🤠

I know that some of you are really upset but then some of you are ecstatic. I don’t live in the USA and had no say in what occurred. I just don’t understand how folks, even jokingly, can consider leaving your beautiful country. I read that internet searches on ”How to move from the USA to Canada” went up 4000 percent this week. 😳

Or how they can say ”not my prezodent”. He is.

I’d stay, and have, in my beautiful Canada no matter who is running the show and work to change things that I don’t like. I believe our PM’s days are numbered. Some are happy about this, others are not. Goodness knows we have our problems! Some doozies are just starting. I can’t imagine not voting.

    Anyhoo, you’re great neighbours. 💕

@roxsol - Thank you for your kind words of comfort. We do have mid term elections in 2 years so we can hope that the balance of power might be somewhat restored. Stay tuned though to the lineup of the new administration.

I would guess the most common fear among Canadians is saying or thinking unapproved things and then having the government take everything you ever worked for in retaliation.

That could be Jay Foursee. Our PM has a very low approval rating among Canadians right now.

As for retaliation for saying unapproved things, I think your guy taking office next year is saying ” Retaliation! Hold my beer, and watch this.”

    Good luck!

@roxsol To be fair, I think a lot of us have a bit of a taste for blood right now - not against our fellow left-leaning citizens (as misguided as they may be) but against the tyrannical government who banned us from church, kept us away from our dying loved ones, and tried to weaponize OSHA to take away our livelihood. In that sense, our guy is just a proxy, and we sent him there with the sledge hammer. We're certainly watching!

@Jasdip Please accept my most sincere apologies for my post yesterday that was the catalyst for the downward spiral of political posts on what’s meant to be a fun daily thread that others look forward to. We need to remember our manners and keep this site a place people visit for some lightness, levity and general problem solving with our homes, gardens and pets.
