Gorgeous, breezy Tuesday afternoon today

I took the cat to the vet to get her nails trimmed this morning at 11am, dropped her back home, then went to vote. When I got back, I opened the tall schoolhouse door and all the windows to the breeze. Had lunch on the back porch while watching the farmer harvest his corn. I think it was 81 degrees this afternoon.

Some pretty good wind gusts, too.

A perfect day here too, about 78F and a sweet Virginia breeze is blowing across my beer mug ;-)

Breezy day here too. May get rain today. It's cloudy out now. Chewie's barking at nothing. I keep having to open the front door to show him nothing is there.

Thanks Rita, Kay, Avedon, Julia, Mantis, Jean! Avedon, I've heard so many complaints about AA color, I'll wait until next year to see what to do with it (I could sure use that spot!) Julia thanks, for now I taped it up and put a plant support, I'll see if it opens tomorrow (there is like 8 buds on it, not bad for a first year I guess) Mantis, thanks a lot! Wow, they do look very very similar, in fact if I saw your picture I'd think it's my noid. I checked the description, and mine doesn't have any visible magenta eyezone, the camera picks up darker colors. It also has quite a few buds but only on top. If you happen to look at this thread again, does yours match AHS description perfectly?

Breezy, My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I am so sorry for the sudden loss of your father. I have already lost both my mom (58) and dad (64). My mom before I even turned 30 to liver failure while I was pregnant with my second son and 3,000 miles away. And my dad to stage 4 mestatic prostate cancer only two years ago. They died less than 4 years apart. While I was very blessed with extra time with my dad (especially since i lived only 20 minutes from him) it wasn't without his own pain and suffering. My dad was in so much pain most of the time during his final year of life and on so many pain meds that sometimes that made his gift of time was very hard on him. His quality of life was greatly decreased. Even his final day was long and drawn out and painful that I smiled and sighed when my dad finally took his last breath. I know this may not bring you comfort now but know that your dad was very strong and such a fighter (esp from beating prostate cancer twice) his body decided to let him go peacefully and without a fight which is a beautiful way to go. Know that the time he had with you, he probably felt really good and wasn't in pain until only the very end. He also obviously felt very loved and very much at peace to be able to let go. Hold him in your heart always. Talk to him when you drive, walk or just need to - you will know he is listening and there with you. Share his memory with those around you and your family so that he may continue to live on in your children and you. Make sure you take time to grieve. I am sure Hospice grief counseling is available to you given your father's diagnosis, take advantage of it. It is very helpful. Again I am sorry. Jen (Ejs)

We had our end of the year golf luncheon. I didn't play golf today because I'm getting ready to leave tomorrow for a few days at the beach. I did go to the luncheon though and had a nice time. now, back to work. I have to finish my packing and tidy up the house.

Busy past 3 days for me. Tuesday - taking Mom to have her port flushed then new knife shopping (3 stores), then a Red Lobster Crab Fest lunch. A treat for her birthday. Then dropping her off at Kohl's while I go to the thrift store. It was half off everything day at the thrift store - very crowded even in the afternoon. Didn't find anything I wanted - oh well. Wednesday - Taking Dad to plastic surgeon for consult on cancerous lesion. He was worried, but the doc was able to ease his mind I think. The doc will cut it out in a few weeks in the office, no surgery center, no radiation or chemo needed. Then a few more errands. Then a nice Mexican lunch where Dad enjoys a relieving jumbo margarita. Today Mom's annual pet scan. Two boring hours for her at the cancer clinic, whilst I do Walmart, Aldis, gas station, a 2 more thrift stores. I score a silk blazer for a quarter that is too big for me. Maybe I can alter it enough to fit, but if not...I'm only out 26 cents. And then lunch at pub I hadn't been to before. Mom quipped that going out to eat 3 days in a row felt like a vacation! I agree, but since all these excursions involve a 45+ mile round trip each day and numerous stops, as the driver I'm looking forward to a few days off! :)

I always feel energetic when it is breezy like this - working on washing the windows (30 year old vinyl replacements that gather dirt, dead bugs, locust leaves and other debris in those frame channels) - 4 left to finish tomorrow after the rain is over. A lovely day, Hard to believe that it is November!

Such a pretty door with the sheer curtain and green walls.

It was gorgeously sunny here about midday and then heavy clouds moved in on a strong breeze. This is one of my favorite, trees: bald cypress. Lovely ferny foliage.

Wow, I might need to move back to the midwest, I grew up in Michigan. Thank you for sharing that, I can feel a nice warm breeze from your photo !

Here in Anchorage, Alaska it's sunny and breezy too but no windows open

Well, I'll be the curmudgeon on here. Yes, 80-degree days with low humidity are nice...in JULY!! We have had NO rain since September and fires everywhere. Last night the low was 67 which is ten degrees higher than the normal day temp in November. My annual flowers thru out my yard are blooming and gorgeous just like in July. If people don't take this climate change seriously it will continue to be hot all winter long and we will not have seasons. if I wanted to live in Florida and have hot weather all year I'd move. The seasons and the temperature changes are why the Northeast has a great climate but no longer it seems.

Lily, we are still in severe drought here, papers are full of stories about what a disastrous year for many of our corn, soybean, and apple farmers.

It did rain overnight, the first significant rain in 3 weeks IIRC. I would say that we got about one decent rainfall per month since Memorial Day - any others, which were weeks apart, barely moistened my "rain gauge" which is an old cake pan sitting on the patio.

It stayed overcast all day today, which has matched my mood.
