Nicole, my dear MIL used to make headcheese. I’m not sure if that is the same thing.

Anyhow, when I first met my husband and we went to his parent’s farm home, my MIL was in the process of making headcheese. She kept calling it ”stewed nuts”. All I knew was that they had just butchered a hog and were processing the meat and parts.

There was no way that I was going to eat ”stewed nuts” !

I learned many years later that ”studynets” was the Ukrainian word for headcheese. LOL, I still didn’t eat it.

eta I was just informed it is spelled studenetz. 🤓

My coworker said head cheese was made from hog brains....I just looked up the recipe...it's not. 😂Now I wonder what recipe her dad was using.....😂 😂 And...why did he hang a bag of it over the clothesline....? She said, he let it ferment...or cook. It sounds nasty! She said brains were fatty. I guess that might have been correct? Her dad was from south of the border.

Hopefully, one's brain should be filled with great ideas, wonderful memories, learning, love, and kindness. Realistically these days, it is probably 60% advertising, 10% misinformation, but plenty of room nevertheless for the aforementioned important stuff.
